Confidence isn’t something you’re born with — it’s something you build intentionally, one habit at a time. Start by shifting your self-talk so your inner voice becomes supportive rather than critical. Stand tall and practice strong body language, because how you carry yourself influences how you feel. Step outside your comfort zone regularly to prove to yourself that you can handle new challenges. Take care of your physical health through movement, rest, and nourishment, and celebrate every win — no matter how small — to reinforce progress. Finally, surround yourself with people and environments that uplift and encourage you. Small, consistent actions create lasting confidence — and it all begins with believing in yourself.

Emotions and feelings are closely connected, but they are not the same. Emotions are fast, automatic physiological responses generated by the brain when we encounter a stimulus—like fear when we hear a loud noise or anger when we feel threatened. They involve measurable bodily changes such as increased heart rate, muscle tension, or hormonal shifts. Feelings, on the other hand, are the conscious interpretation of those emotional responses. They are shaped by our thoughts, memories, beliefs, and past experiences. In simple terms, emotions happen to us; feelings are how we make sense of what happened. Understanding this distinction helps build emotional intelligence, because when we can identify the emotion, we gain more control over the feeling and our response.

Conflict is a natural part of any relationship, whether at work, at home, or with friends. What matters most is how we choose to respond. By staying calm and regulating your emotions, you create space for productive dialogue instead of escalation. Active listening builds mutual understanding and shows respect, while using “I” statements helps you express concerns without placing blame. Finding common ground shifts the focus from winning an argument to strengthening the relationship, and focusing on solutions keeps the conversation forward-looking and constructive. When we communicate with respect and intention, conflict becomes an opportunity for growth rather than division.

Feeling burned out doesn’t mean you’re failing — it’s often a signal that something needs to change. Start by taking intentional breaks to recharge your energy, set clear boundaries to protect your time, and prioritise small acts of self-care that help you reset mentally and physically. Gentle movement, fresh air, and connecting with supportive people can also make a powerful difference in restoring balance. Remember, recovery from burnout isn’t instant — it’s a process of listening to your needs, making sustainable adjustments, and giving yourself permission to slow down while you rebuild your resilience.

I’m a qualified counsellor offering a warm, compassionate, and non-judgemental space where you can feel heard, supported, and understood. I work with individuals experiencing trauma, eating disorders, anxiety, grief, depression, relationship struggles plus many other presentations, helping you explore your experiences at your own pace and move towards greater emotional wellbeing. I also offer EMDR therapy, an evidence-based approach that can support the processing of difficult memories and reduce the impact of past experiences. My aim is to work collaboratively with you, building resilience, insight, and practical strategies to help you create meaningful and lasting change.
