➡️ Recognise Your Triggers or Stressors

While life events that cause stress are often beyond our control, recognising your stressors can help determine what you can manage. To identify your stress triggers, ask yourself:

• What is causing my stress?
• What is happening in my life that is contributing to my stress?
• Who am I with when I feel stressed?
• Where do I feel stressed
• What am I doing when I feel stressed?

➡️ Determine the Factors Sustaining Your Stress

It is also crucial to understand the factors that sustain your stress. Identifying these factors, it becomes easier to address each one and implement positive changes. To identify these factors, ask yourself:

• How do I cope with stress? What do I do more of?
• How do I view myself, the situation, or the world when I’m stressed?
• What do I do less of?
• How do I behave around others?
• How does stress affect my routine such as exercise, personal time, sleep, diet?
• What do I avoid?

Once you mapped out your individual cycle of stress, tackle each factor by identifying ways to make positive changes. Gradually working through each part of the cycle can help reduce your stress to a manageable level.

⭐ Self-help strategies can be challenging, and these strategies do not replace psychological support. We provide evidence-based therapies and individualised care to help manage and reduce stress effectively. If you need support, please reach out to us from 01932 212806 for FREE 20-minute chat!

Everywhere from our own family, to local community and the world at large, we hear of the struggles with many chronic mental and physical health issues. Our mental and physical health is getting worst not better. Why are we not getting better?

In my work as a clinician & psychologist, I have come to know that we need a different perspective and understanding of what it means to be healthy and happy. Talking as therapy is just not enough anymore, listening to someone’s problems, although very helpful, does not heal on its own. We need an approach and an understanding that reflects the shifts in consciousness that are happening in our lifetime.

We cannot afford to carry on as before, we all need a shift in perspective in order to understand our health and illness.

This is, on the one hand very easy but on the other hand very hard.
Easy because anyone can shift their awareness for a brief moment to notice their chest moving rhythmically up and down with each breath. And hard because it may take one a lifetime to learn to live a life of inner awareness and presence.
