Pelvic pain...

Did you know 1 in 5 women and 1 in 12 men suffer from Pelvic pain?

Your pelvis is a complex transition area between your legs and the rest of your body such as your legs, back, ribs or shoulders.

Osteopaths take a whole body approach. They are trained to find the links between all these parts of the body and your pelvic pain.

Tell your Osteopath your story. Tell them about your pain – what you think it is, what makes it worse, how it makes you feel. Your osteopath is listening. They will give you the right mix of physical therapy, support and advice for your condition.

Do you struggle with tension headaches? 🤕

You may have heard of “cranial osteopathy” and think a “cranial” osteopath is an osteopath who only deals with problems regarding the “cranium” or head, or that
if they are suffering from conditions such as tension headaches that they need to see a cranial osteopath rather than a regular osteopath.

Cranial osteopathy can feel very relaxing for the recipient in much the same as reflexology can be.

As an Osteopath with particular interest in treatment of migraines and tension headaches we may use a combination of both cranial and structural Osteopathy to treat patients depending on their individual presentation.

It is a common conception that osteopathy is a therapy used only to treat back problems, however this is not the case.

Osteopathy has been shown to provide effective treatment and management of conditions such as:

👉 Headache arising from the neck (cervicogenic) / migraine prevention
👉 Frozen shoulder/ shoulder and elbow pain/ tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis) arising from associated musculoskeletal conditions of the back and neck, but not isolated occurrences
👉 Circulatory problems, cramp
👉 Digestion problems
👉 Joint pains
👉 Lumbago
👉 Sciatica

This is to name just a few.

Soft tissue injuries are the bane of any physically active person, right? 😬

What is soft tissue?

The human body comprises various soft tissues that serve to provide support, connections and protective coverings for internal organs and bones. These soft tissues include muscles, tendons, ligaments, skin, fat and blood vessels.

Soft tissue injuries are frequently observed in muscles, tendons and ligaments, with conditions such as tennis elbow, hamstring strains or ankle sprains being the most common. Such injuries often arise during sports activities or exercise, but they can also occur spontaneously without any known cause.

How can you avoid soft tissue injuries?

In order to avoid repetitive injuries, it is crucial to adopt a gradual and measured approach when engaging in exercise and sports.

This involves gradually acclimatising your body to a particular activity, avoiding abrupt increases in workout volume beyond 10% per week.

Additionally, it is recommended that you give your body regular rest periods every four to eight weeks by significantly reducing the volume and intensity of your workouts. Although this "three steps forward, one step back" approach may require discipline and may not always be enjoyable, it is the most effective way to enhance your body's resilience and durability.

Get in touch or find out more on this topic via our 'How to avoid the most common workout or sports injuries' blog on our website.

Have you got shoulder pain that just won't go away?

Our shoulders are complex, with many muscles and tendons holding it in place. The rotator cuff is composed of 4 different muscles and this can cause us some issues. This may be due to over-usage, or maybe even degeneration.

If you find yourself in pain, please do get in touch and we can see if we can help.

Book online or by phone.
