Monthly supervision for our staff doesn't have to be sat at a desk.
At Unity Dorset we encourage our service users to enjoy nature, making the most of the outdoors and what beautiful Dorset has to offer.
So why not follow that advice too?

Ecosupervisons are definitely something we will be doing more of!
Walking and talking, it's great to get those steps in especially on a beautiful sunny winter afternoon.

Walking next to someone, being side by side, is far more comfortable than sitting face to face over a desk, which can seem somewhat daunting. We find that this is a great way for our staff to be able to discuss things, far more informally.

It is restorative for both our support staff and management and also really helps with work life balance.

Whilst it was a very busy week "behind the scenes" for our management team, one of our service users, B, was also very busy making plans and putting into place her new year resolutions.

Sometimes life can seem overwhelming and it is a great idea to break tasks down into bite size pieces, which then seem so much more manageable.

Part of our role at Unity Dorset is to support our service users to be independent which involves running a home.

B, made herself this chart with input from support staff, to help keep her on track.

We hope this helps!

The final product!

Earrings made today during a service users support.

B has finished making a jewellery set for her mum's birthday present. She used beads in her mum's favorite colours; yellow and blue 💛 💙

She loves to give presents, is very creative and loves colour. So, adding all these elements together she has made the perfect handmade gift for her mum.

Can't wait for her mum to receive these and wear them!

Our support worker also took the opportunity to make a couple of pairs of earrings for B (whilst she is as busy making her mum's), in B's favorite colours 💚 🩷 💜

An enjoyable afternoon of jewellery making!

Our service user B absolutely loves crafts and it is a great way for her to focus and be present in the moment as well as expressing herself through creativity.
She loves vibrant colours and these pieces are made with lots of love as they are a present for a family member's birthday.
