🦕 Did you know Weymouth was once underwater?

A fascinating new pop-up exhibition opens today at the Weymouth Museum Pop Up celebrating the incredible fossils found right here along our stretch of the Jurassic Coast.

“Look What I Found!” explores the stories of local fossil collectors and the amazing discoveries made between Langton Herring and Ringstead, all within just a few miles of Weymouth.

Around 150 million years ago, the area we know today as Weymouth was beneath warm seas filled with fish, shellfish, sea urchins and large marine predators. Over time, some of these creatures settled into the seabed and became the fossils that are still being discovered today.

Visitors to the exhibition can meet local collectors, learn about their fossil-hunting adventures and see some remarkable finds that reveal Weymouth’s ancient past.

There was a lovely springtime vibe in Sutton Poyntz this morning 🌼

Daffodils bright around the village pond, soft sunshine filtering through the trees, and that classic view across the water to The Springhead looking as picturesque as ever.

It’s little Dorset scenes like this that remind you how special the villages just outside Weymouth really are 💚
