CA Stockting & Son, Funeral Directors of Weymouth was purchased by Grassby Funeral Service from Cecil Hadley in 1976. He was succeeded by Dennis Mould as manager and Funeral Director for over thirty years. Grassby Funeral Service is a long established family run business with its main office in Dorchester. Stockting is probably the longest established funeral directors for Weymouth and Portland. T

he office and chapels of rest still continue to operate from premises in Crescent Street in Weymouth. Since January 2016, Melody Hopkins, who was born and grew up in Weymouth, has been Funeral Director and Manager following on from her fifteen years' service with the Company. She is ably assisted by her colleagues Paul Buddin. She also works closely with the Weymouth Area Manager, Sam Wilding of Rose Funeral Service. The offices and premises in Crescent St were sensitively re-decorated and refurbished in 2016. In conjunction with the new look premises, the business was re-named Grassby & Stockting Funeral Service to reflect the close link with the parent company. Grassby & Stockting Funeral Service are members of NAFD (National Association of Funeral Directors) and SAIF (National Society of Allied Independent Funeral Directors).
