I’m Donna, a registered paramedic and advanced aesthetics practitioner, and the face behind Weymouth Aesthetics Clinic. I am currently studying my Level 7 in Aesthetics with the Derma Institute. My background in healthcare has always shaped how I work; safety, honesty, and a patient-first approach sit at the heart of everything I do. I specialise in subtle, natural-looking aesthetic treatments designed to enhance, not change, and I’m never afraid to say no if something isn’t right for you. ✨Cannula vs Needle Lip Filler
What’s the difference and which is right for you?

Not all lip fillers are placed the same way. The technique used can make a big difference to comfort, swelling, precision, and final result.

Needle Lip Filler 💉

This is the traditional method using a fine needle to place small amounts of filler directly into specific areas of the lips.

Pros❤️
• Extremely precise placement
• Ideal for shaping the cupid’s bow and vermillion border
• Great for detailed contouring and structure
• Often best for first-time subtle enhancements

Cons🙈
• Higher chance of swelling and bruising
• More injection points
• Can feel slightly sharper during treatment

Cannula Lip Filler 👄

A cannula is a blunt-tipped instrument that enters through a single point and glides under the skin to distribute filler.

Pros❤️
• Fewer entry points
• Reduced bruising and swelling
• Safer around blood vessels
• Excellent for soft, even volume and hydration
• Ideal for natural, balanced results

Cons🙈
• Less pinpoint precision for sharp definition
• Not suitable for every lip shape or concern
• Requires advanced training and experience

So which is better?👀

Neither is “better” universally. It depends on:
• Your lip anatomy
• Your goals
• Whether you want definition, volume, or hydration
• Your tolerance to swelling and downtime

Many of my treatments will actually use a combination of both techniques to achieve the safest and most natural-looking result.
