Today is Earth Day, the annual global event that began in 1970 and is intended to promote the need to protect and care for our planet. ππ
The theme this year is "Our Power, Our Planet" emphasising the positive impact of small local actions even in the face of shifting global policies from governments and businesses. So to practice yoga off the mat this week, you could take the principles of ahimsa (non-harming) which can mean eating less meat, looking after animals, protecting wildlife and nature in whatever way you are able to, picking up litter, donating food to an animal rescue centreβ¦or aparigraha (non-greed, non-hoarding) which encourages us to avoid over-consumption ...maybe by recycling or "make do and mend" instead of buying new. ππ
Our actions can be small and still have a positive impact π₯°πππ I try to pick up litter whenever I can (Jedβs poo bags come in handy there ππ) knowing that I canβt stop the problem of people dropping it but I can make that spot prettier and safer for wildlife by removing it ππ
