September is PCOS awareness month, and when I was diagnosed with PCOS, at 18, (in the olden days as my daughter now says every time I talk about when I was younger), the solution given to me for my symptoms was medication.
My symptoms of irregular periods, bad skin, and low mood and anxiety, were treated with Metformin, antidepressants, and various lotions and potions for my skin, and honestly none of it really made a difference.
What has made a difference, and comes without the side effects, is balanced nutrition, strength training, movement in general, good sleep, and taking care of my mental health on a daily basis.
I'm not sure how my younger self would of taken the lifestyle advise, if it had of been given to me, but I'm so glad I understand its power now.
