The Dispensary Dispensing good health in Whitby since 2012. A community health initiative based on Skinner Street! The Dispensary is not what you would imagine.

It’s more than just a health shop; it’s a futurehealth shop. What’s the point of nurturing your body if your job or your environment is making you sick? Or, you feel you have no voice in your community, or you can’t meet with people or take part in activities which you feel give you meaning. Future health is about social, economic and cultural health as well as the purely physical. The Dispensary

Dividend:

Everyone who registers with The Dispensary can get a Dispensary Dividend Card or number (if you live outside Whitby) which enables you to earn 5% credit on every purchase you make online or in our shop. You can redeem this credit back against future purchases - so why not make use of it regularly to give yourself some money. Or, save your Dividends over time and treat yourself once in a while! Today, on World Bee Day we would like to share this poem written by James Fearnley..

Hymn to the Honeybee

How we have misunderstood you
Melissa, Messenger of the light,
The Honeybee.
Companion of the Logos,
The one remaining one.
Always a nursemaid to the human being
The detour around our divisions
Back to oneness.

Never have you doubted us
Though we have doubted you.
Throughout the whole of time,
You were present in your priestly crown
Present as a steppingstone for man:
In Babylon
In Ancient India
In Egypt
In the Sarmoun Darq
In Greece at Ephesus
With Artemis the Guide
And Melissa and the Essene
your priestess and your priest.

Come back this day into our true imagination

Several times over the last couple of weeks there have been seagulls trapped in the netting on the roof of Sainsbury's in Whitby and a nearby store that also has netting on the roof. Please keep an eye out for trapped birds and alert a manager in store if you see one, they are not always aware immediately of birds in distress. You can also contact Whitby Wildlife Sanctuary if you are worried about the welfare of any wild bird or animal.

We had such a lovely seated yoga session with Anne Meadows last week at The Dispensary. I certainly felt the beneficial effects of the gentle but powerful movements, my back especially felt more relaxed, but overall I felt more flexible and calm. Anne was such a good and gentle teacher and the yoga mudra exercises with herbs and essential oils were wonderful! Anne will be running another session on 21st May - watch this space for more details :)
