What a wonderful day today. Everyone did an amazing job making a floating cup and saucer. All the flowers where individually picked by the ladies 👏 well done it looks fantastic ❤️

What a week we’ve had at Shetland House. We had the amazing singers The Elderly Brothers and we danced the morning away. Today we have been on the forget me not train which aimed at dementia, it was a long day but we all enjoyed ourselves ❤️

When the weather is so hot why not go to the paddling pool to cool down. Lots of chatting, laughter, fun and of course an ice cream ❤️

What a wonderful day we’ve all had today. Ice creams this morning before coffee and cake in the garden. Had a wonderful walk after lunch with ice lollies to keep cool. We love summer at Shetland House ❤️

This week the ladies wanted to visit Bothams new tearoom. It had a big thumbs up from everyone. The food and drinks were wonderful coupled with attentive staff made for a vote to return soon ❤️ we also had our new bus driver Murphy 🐶 who enjoyed his trip with us all

What a fantastic Easter family afternoon at Shetland House. Thank you to Staithes fishermen’s choir who were amazing. Everybody enjoyed the Easter egg hunt and making chocolate cornflake cakes with a lovely afternoon tea to follow. Lots of fun and laughter which is what family is all about 🐣

What better way to enjoy the sunshine than have a trip to perrys garden centre. Summer plants chosen then enjoyed cake and coffee ❤️

Respite & Recover Centre

Our respite centre offers a safe and comfortable place for people to stay from a minimum of 3 nights, up to 6 weeks. With 24/7 care we offer the opportunity for anyone to come and visit the beautiful sea-side town of Whitby, safe in the knowledge that their care needs can be catered for. The centre is also the perfect place to recover after a recent hospital stay or fall, we can help you get back on your feet and build your confidence ready to return back home.

We have 4 bedrooms available, one is an en-suite with Sky TV! Our facilities include a whirlpool bath bath with bath and ceiling hoist, wet room, laundry service, TV and DVD player in each room and endless books and games too. During weekdays our visitors can make their way in to our day centre, this is a great place for them to socialise, join in with crafts and activities and even have a sing along! Our own mini-bus’ collect many people from the local area and bring them to the centre each day, making it a great place to chat and make friends.

Our care staff are all highly trained and will be on-hand 24/7 to assist you during your stay. We provide a fresh meal each day and you can get involved with choosing the shopping list for the week, to make sure all of your favourite snacks and drinks are available!
