We have some exciting news here at Shetland House

From Monday 12th January 2026 we will be running our fantastic day centre Monday, Wednesday and now our new added date of Fridays

We have the privilege of our own mini bus for pick ups and drop offs

The day centre runs from 10am to 3pm and includes activities, a wonderful lunch, snacks and drinks

We have limited spaces available so if any more information is needed please contact our office on 01947 606187

Respite & Recover Centre

Our respite centre offers a safe and comfortable place for people to stay from a minimum of 3 nights, up to 6 weeks. With 24/7 care we offer the opportunity for anyone to come and visit the beautiful sea-side town of Whitby, safe in the knowledge that their care needs can be catered for. The centre is also the perfect place to recover after a recent hospital stay or fall, we can help you get back on your feet and build your confidence ready to return back home.

We have 4 bedrooms available, one is an en-suite with Sky TV! Our facilities include a whirlpool bath bath with bath and ceiling hoist, wet room, laundry service, TV and DVD player in each room and endless books and games too. During weekdays our visitors can make their way in to our day centre, this is a great place for them to socialise, join in with crafts and activities and even have a sing along! Our own mini-bus’ collect many people from the local area and bring them to the centre each day, making it a great place to chat and make friends.

Our care staff are all highly trained and will be on-hand 24/7 to assist you during your stay. We provide a fresh meal each day and you can get involved with choosing the shopping list for the week, to make sure all of your favourite snacks and drinks are available!

We provide a personalised stay for everyone who stays with us, so please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you would like any more information or to check availability in our centre.
