We are delighted that residents and staff at Berehill House Care Home received their third dose of the Pfizer vaccine. The booster vaccination is being rolled out nationally, and care home residents and staff are at the top of the vaccine priority list.

Michelle Hart, the Home Manager of Berehill Care Home, said: "Our residents and staff have welcomed the booster vaccine, and we are grateful for the support received from the Whitchurch’s Two Rivers Medical Partnership and for carrying out the vaccinations at the Home. We are committed to doing everything we can to keep our residents as safe as we can.”

The Home has followed stringent procedures to keep everyone safe. It welcomes new residents with clear admission protocols to ensure the transition period into the accommodation is safe both for new and existing residents.

Huge congratulations to Yvonne Norder for being shortlisted as one of the finalists in WashCo's Love Laundry Awards.

Yvonne looks after the home’s laundry and is much loved – and appreciated – by her colleagues and residents.

Being well into retirement, Yvonne continues to work tirelessly, ensuring our residents have crispy clean laundry. Doing the home’s laundry is a hot and tiresome job. Yvonne works hard and always has a smile on her face.

Our homes are at the heart of their local communities and offer a helping hand whenever needed.

So when one of our care homes in Whitchurch, Berehill House, received a phone call from their local Coop about a lost, confused and scared elderly lady in their store, our team went over and above their call of duty to ensure she is safe and cared for until her family is tracked down.

The lady wasn't a resident of the home, but Emma Cogman – one of our amazing care assistants – offered to help. The Police were alerted, and Emma brought the lady to Berehill House Care Home. In the comfort of the Home, after having something to eat and drink, Emma's gentle approach enabled her to identify and track a family member. Her grandson came to collect her and said his grandma managed to travel 15 miles, a possible 5-hour walk to get to Whitchurch.

One of Emma’s colleague said: I wanted to say how amazing Emma was today with the lost lady. The way she handled it was incredible and to find information from the lady to track her family was just amazing. That lady couldn’t even talk.”

The team at the Coop were also grateful for Emma's support, and kindly made a hamper for the home.

Caring is what we do, and we're grateful for such a fantastic team.

Thank you Emma and Berehill House for going over and above your call of duty and making a difference to people in your community.

In every care home, there are many unsung heros, who work tirelessly to make sure our residents are well looked after. At Anavo, we are committed to recognising their contribution.
