Job Summary

To provide a high standard of hospitality, cleaning and laundry within the home for our resident, visitors and colleagues.

The post holder must maintain standards as required in adherence to the Company’s policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with infection control procedures.

Key responsibilities

Carry out all cleaning duties as directed by the Head Housekeeper to the required company standards.

Cleaning duties can be in any area of the care home.

Ensure that daily and deep cleaning schedules are adhered to.

Maintain a high standard of personal presentation and hygiene

Ensure that all cleaning equipment is correctly and safely used and kept in a safe and clean condition.

Report any defect to the Head Housekeeper or Maintenance Officer

Carry out any other reasonable instructions of the Home Manager.

To be sensitive to the privacy and individual needs of the residents and agree a convenient time to carry out cleaning of their personal rooms

To comply with COSHH regulations.

To adhere to infection control polices at all times.

To ensure the correct use of PPE.

To follow the correct use of colour code systems within the home

To ensure all necessary documentation is completed daily.

To ensure trolleys are re-­stocked at the end of shift and cleaning cupboards are left clean and tidy.

Job Duties:

- Prepare all food items as directed in a sanitary and timely manner
- Follow recipes and presentation specifications
- Operate standard kitchen equipment safely and efficiently

- Assist with the cleaning and organisation of kitchen and equipment
- Restock items as needed throughout the shift

You will be working in the kitchen to provide well balanced home cooked food for the home’s residents and understand the needs of various individuals. A passion for creating great dishes and supervising a busy team is a must.

Principal Duties

•Designing delicious menus for our residents, at all times considering resident’s individual preferences and dietary requirements
•Preparing and serving high quality dishes
•Guiding, directing and coaching kitchen staff
•Working closely with chef assistants and senior management team
•Stock control; stock replenishing/ ordering
•Managing the Food Safety and Health and safety requirements and ensuring all necessary documentation is completed and up to date
•Budget control
•Immaculate hygiene standards.
•Delegate tasks to kitchen staff to ensure meals are prepared in a timely manner.
•Ensuring the kitchen is stocked with cooking utensils and equipment
•Modify recipes to meet residents needs and requests
•Check freshness of food and discard out of date items
•Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulation within the kitchen area
•Ability to remain calm and undertake various tasks
•Excellent time management abilities
•Familiarity with sanitation regulations Training and Development
•Ensure all staff members know how to use appropriate equipment
•Compete mandatory induction and training courses, as and when required
•Maintain professional knowledge and competence.

Health and Safety

•To be responsible for your own Health and Safety and that of anybody else who may be affected by your acts or omissions.
•To complete risk assessments on activities, outings and events as necessary.
•Promote safe working practice in the care home.
General Duties In addition to the above, there are some general requirements that apply to all jobs in the home:
•Take responsibility for the safeguarding of adults, and follow the Home’s whistle blowing policy as required.
•Participation in staff meetings.
•Participation in training activities
•Participation in staff supervision and personal development review
•Participation in quality assurance systems
•Participation in other training relevant to the home
•Take responsibility for personal development by keeping abreast of developments in the field of caring for older people

•Statutory legislation in particular the health and hygiene regulations
•Nationally and locally agreed codes of good practice
