Eye Health Care: What is Glaucoma?

Glaucoma is a group of eye conditions that damage the optic nerve - the connection between your eye and your brain. This damage is often linked to raised pressure inside the eye. Glaucoma usually develops slowly and often has no early symptoms, which is why regular eye tests are essential.

If left untreated, it can affect your peripheral vision, but when detected early it can often be managed to protect your sight.

Some of our Optometrists hold additional specialist qualifications: Sarah has a Professional Certificate in Glaucoma, and Jane has a Professional Higher Certificate in Glaucoma. On this Remembrance Day, 11th November, we join the nation in reflecting on the sacrifices made by the Armed Forces community, past and present.

We reflect on the stories of those who served, those who never returned home, and those whose lives were forever changed by war. Their sacrifice is woven into the freedoms we hold today.
