It takes at least three years full time study in acupuncture to become a professional acupuncturist and that is just the beginning, and the minimum for membership of the British Acupuncture Council, accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Some providers of Acupuncture in the UK have had less than 2 weeks of Acupuncture specific training. There are now many providers of 'short courses' in Acupuncture.
