A Burns Supper Celebration at Sandstone Brook
It was our absolute pleasure to host a Burns Supper this afternoon in honour of the Scottish tribute to Robert Burns. At Sandstone Brook, we served traditional tasters of haggis, neeps and tatties, accompanied by rich gravy or whisky sauce, and had so much fun
Many of our residents proudly share Scottish roots, making today’s celebration particularly meaningful. While a few guests were initially hesitant to try haggis, it wasn’t long before they were asking for more!
A Burns Supper is a cherished celebration of the life and poetry of Robert Burns, the famous Scottish poet who lived in the 1700s. Burns is the author of many beloved Scots poems, and suppers in his honour are held around the world each year on, or near, his birthday — January 25th, known as Burns Night.
It was a joyous afternoon filled with great music, food, laughter, and cultural pride — a fitting tribute to Scotland’s national bard, celebrations will no doubt continue across the weekend and at Sandstone Brook.
Today's celebrations fitted in nicely with a Resident's 98th Birthday who has Scottish roots, for an Afternoon 98th Birthday Tea party celebration, this was enjoyed by the family attending. The home presented the afternoon tea on Resident Lyn's own Douglas Tartan tablecloth!
