Extended access appointments give you more choice and flexibility when booking care at The Uplands Medical Practice.

These are additional appointments available outside normal hours of 8am to 6:30pm, Monday to Friday. You can book early morning, evening, and weekend slots, with some availability on bank holidays.

Appointments can take place:-
• Face to face
• Over the phone
• Online

You may not always see a GP. Depending on your needs, you might be booked with a nurse, advanced nurse practitioner, pharmacist, or phlebotomist.

This service helps you access the right care at a time that works for you.

Patient led ordering of prescriptions is now live for practices in the Whitefield area.

Your pharmacy should have contacted you to explain the change. You now need to order your prescriptions directly, rather than your pharmacy requesting them for you.

You can order your prescriptions in a way that suits you:-
• Use the NHS App
• Order online at The Uplands Medical Practice website
• Visit the practice and submit your request in person

This change helps improve safety and reduces delays, so you stay in control of your medication.

If you need help setting up the NHS App, please speak to a member of the reception team.

For certain cohorts of patients such as being vulnerable, your pharmacy prescription ordering service will continue. Your nominated pharmacy will make you aware of this.

In March, 88 appointments were missed, which is 3.9% of all bookings.

Each missed appointment is time that could have been offered to another patient waiting for care.

We understand things change, but if you can no longer attend, please let us know as soon as possible. You can cancel using the NHS App, online, or by calling the practice.

This helps us make better use of appointments and support more patients when they need us.

The NHS has launched a NEW online self-assessment tool for women who experience a bleed or spotting they’ve been through the menopause and who are not on HRT. It’s for women in Bury, Salford, Oldham, Heywood, Middleton, and Rochdale.

Any bleeding from your va**na after the menopause (when your periods have been stopped for 12 months or more) should be checked out to rule out possible womb cancer.

You can now do this without booking an appointment with a GP. Simply answer a few questions on the online self-assessment tool to request a hospital check 👇🏻
