As a community activity, we are giving back to our local community and donating to the food bank.

We have set up a collection point in the reception of our funeral home in Whitehaven for anyone wanting to come and drop off items to be donated.

We are working in tandem with our other funeral homes out West - Workington and Maryport, there are collection boxes at three sites.

Closer to Christmas, we will take everything collected down to St Mary's Church in Maryport - where North Lakes Food Bank meet weekly.

Whitehaven co-op funeralcare community fund is donating £250 to the continued support of Goodlives. They are a local charity that provides practical support to help people find employment and get back into work. They offer a range of free courses that focus on sharing new skills and building self-confidence in a safe space.

Today we are very proud to share the first official photograph of our CEO and founder Linda Magistris meeting His Royal Highness, the Prince of Wales, at Windsor Castle.

Linda received her OBE earlier this month for services to the bereaved.

Linda said:

'These past 11 years since my partner Graham died have been incredibly challenging in many ways, but we have pushed through and driven key national initiatives, which are now thriving and helping many who are bereaved up and down the country.

We will continue to drive our vision forward, and I am thrilled that we have grown in strength, in determination, in support and most importantly in our community, where so many have joined our cause, for which I am eternally grateful’
