Distington Hall invited all local bereaved families to a memorial event last week.

We had the privilege of attending this service. Everyone was given an order of service, forget-me-not seeds, an organza bag, and a memorial tag to place on their tree in memory of a loved one this Christmas.

Local celebrants took the service, and Whitehaven Brass Band entertained along with a local singer.

We are very grateful to have been invited along.

As a community activity, we are giving back to our local community and donating to the food bank.

We have set up a collection point in the reception of our funeral home in Whitehaven for anyone wanting to come and drop off items to be donated.

We are working in tandem with our other funeral homes out West - Workington and Maryport, there are collection boxes at three sites.

Closer to Christmas, we will take everything collected down to St Mary's Church in Maryport - where North Lakes Food Bank meet weekly.

They offer a range of free courses that focus on sharing new skills and building self-confidence in a safe space.
