📣Mid-Week Ramble about Wellbeing…
I’ve been thinking a lot about the concept of wellness/ wellbeing recently and it occurred to me that I have been ‘doing’ wellbeing since long before I set up my business, Juniper Wellbeing.
I’ve always been motivated by work and voluntary opportunities that helped people lead happier and more fulfilled lives, and that were aligned with my values. That’s a really big deal for me and being able to run my business in an inclusive and welcoming way is really important.
✨Prior to setting up Juniper, I had worked in project worker roles in the voluntary / charity sector and local authority settings around the UK for around 20 years. I worked with families from all walks of life, offering emotional and practical support, as well as person centred planning - helping people think about what they wanted their futures to look like and creating personalised plans to work towards those dreams and goals. All very wellbeing-orientated although I don’t think we were using the word ‘wellbeing’ back then! The term really came into the mainstream via social media and influencers, but much of the important stuff is rooted in indigenous cultures and this isn’t acknowledged often enough (by me too, but I am always learning and working on this!)
💚All of this life and career experience really lay the foundations for what Juniper Wellbeing is and the services I offer. I am invested in continued professional development, and training with reputable providers because I want the best for my business and the people I work with.
🌸So if I am sharing wellbeing tips and advice, please be assured that I will only share stuff that has been researched, is evidence-based, and is in line with official guidance.
There is so much mis-information on social media now, with people trying to cash in on our vulnerabilities - whether that’s around our appearance, being a ‘better’ parent, or whatever. I’m really relieved to see that there are lots of professionals calling out the BS wellbeing advice these days 🙌🏼
