WHAT I EAT DURING THE WEEK ✅

This is an average day for me during the week and for me it is easy and convenient!

It is also slightly under my calories that I require even to lose weight, but I know I will go slightly over my calories on the weekend as it isn’t as easy for me to predict and plan my meals + I enjoy a drink or two more on the weekend 🍺

By doing this my calories over the week still remain on a deficit and I am able to achieve the weight loss I aim for 💪🏼

‘Insert motivational quote about climbing a mountain being hard but worth it at the top and how that is similar in life’ … or just play Miley Cyrus ‘it’s the climb’ 🎶🏔

But really this is a post to say that most people climbing Snowdon this afternoon went the wrong when when they saw my double bicep pose as they saw some bigger mountains to climb 😉💚

Big shoutout to for passing his level 3 fitness test after being promoted to a level 3 Referee🏃🏻‍♂️✅

I know what you are thinking, ‘it must be really boring training a referee’ - you are correct 😉✅ No .. it’s great fun and he’s only had a few yellow cards so far! Although he does try give me a red card every time he has to do a burpee 🔴🟡

Another big shoutout to Bens doggo Gus! Gus according to Benji has been much more useful and beneficial then I have by helping him get though the 4K runs to the pub and back (not stopping for a pint, apparently)✅

Well done Benji! See you on the big screen soon ⚽️

A huge shoutout to Zoe for completing the Centurion on the weekend 💚 100 miles in under 30 hours 🏃🏻‍♂️🏃🏻‍♂️How ridiculous 😅

Even Albert Spinestein is eyeing up your medal and he doesn’t have eyes 👀💀

Zoe came to me over a year ago when I was treating people in my dads study- she was struggling to run for more than half an hour … now she is running for 29!!

I’m not claiming to be the reason for this.. it is all down to Zoe’s hard work!

Zoe has done everything she can to get ready for this race, including 1000s of miles in training, countless strength classes, using a running coach and keeping her body moving well along the way ✅

Well done and enjoy some rest 🍕

Happy World Ocean Day 🌍🌊

For me the ocean is one place that I can switch off and be completely in the present moment 🏄🏻‍♂️

There are plenty of other times in life that I make sure I am in the moment and I make this something I actively aim for… as especially in this modern day it is easy to live on a phone and always have an eye on what other people are doing - when often it shouldn’t and doesn’t matter!

Surfing, the gym, and being with friends and family (& dogs) is all I really need to be happy and I make sure I spend as much time doing these things as possible ♥️

If you don’t have something that allows you to switch off from daily life I recommend trying new things to see if you can find this and add it to your life ☀️

P.S recycle and keep the oceans clean ♻️

The impact of changing calorie input 🔥

The difference between these two photos isn’t 100’s of extra hours in the gym or going out running… I have simply been much more consistent with tracking my calories 🍔

I’ve still gone out for meals and got drunk 🍻🍸

However 80% of my week is tracked and remains consistent - along with training which has remained as consistent as it has over the last 5 years +

The other 20% of my week still has a calorie consideration as I will account for these extra calories by being slightly more restrictive during the week!

Now I’m not claiming I’ve had a drastic improvement, I’d still like 20” arms… but by consistently hitting my calorie target I’ve managed to lose 10kg!

YOU CAN DO THE SAME ✅

If you would like more support and help with tracking calories, nutrition or exercise please just drop me a message or book in a PT session by clicking the link in my bio!

Rotator cuff strengthening 👍🏼✅

Important for overall strength and upper body control, helping to reduce pain around the shoulder!

Do you suffer from shoulder impingement or pain due to a forward posture whilst sat a desk all day? Well give these a go 💚

BEFORE & AFTER ✅

OVER HEAD SQUAT TECHNIQUE 🏋🏻‍♂️

As mentioned previously Emma came to me with knee pain and had the goal of being able to squat properly for the first time and without pain!

This has now been achieved and we are squatting comfortably with around 60kg on the bar!

The key to achieving this progress was focusing on improving mobility and technique with the overhead squat- making a normal barbell squat much easier! We also followed specific knee rehab exercises and Emma can now complete leg extensions with 0 pain ✅

Whilst doing this it was key to also focus on strength training, Emma has never struggled with pain during hip thrusts so we were able to continue to build strength in this movement and it won’t be long before we hit the 200kg mark 💪🏼💚

Are you currently training with an injury? Drop me a message me to find out how you can work some rehab and strength and conditioning into your workouts to become pain free 🏋🏻‍♂️

FOCUS! On improving your shoulder mobility and control!

Here I am working on my internal and external shoulder rotation ✅

The key is to ensure your heels, back, shoulder blades, elbows and head remains in contact with the wall throughout 👍🏼

If you have a big 🍑 you may have to tilt your hips forwards to enable your lower back to touch the wall.

Keep the moving slow and controlled and focus on using the muscles of your shoulder to create movement! Add overhead movements to increase the difficult!!

Remember to keep all the body parts on the wall and move from the shoulders only! You will feel the burn 🔥🔥

Are you rowing correctly to target your lats?!

Focus on leading with the elbow and pulling back towards your hip ✅

Try adding a resistance band to increase tension in a horizontal direction to increase Lat activation 💪🏼

Emma originally came to me with the aim of being able to squat pain free! After 3 weeks and continuous work from Emma she is now able to squat without pain and with improved technique!

Yesterday we were doing Bulgarian split squats and she was suffering right knee pain- restricting movement due to pain!

By simply raising her arms we managed to reduce the pain completely and improve her range of motion drastically!

By raising the arms Emma’s centre of balance improved, her posterior oblique sling was working more effectively and allowing for greater glute activation (reducing quad stress and therefor reducing pain)

How do you warm up?

You may be doing the simple things wrong!

Watch this video to find out how to warm up your rotator cuff muscles more effectively and reduce your chance of injury! ✅🔨🏋🏻‍♂️
