Happy Monday Peeps!

Its propa baltic! ❄️

What comes with cold weather?.....shoulder and neck tension πŸ₯Ά

With colder weather conditions, the body instinctively shrugs the shoulders to consvere heat and protect the neck, however this keeps your upper traps and neck muscles in constant low-level contraction.

Prolonged contraction reduces blood flow, leading to muscle fatigue and tension build-up.

Cold also reduces tissue elasticity, so tight muscles feel stiffer and more uncomfortable.

Over time, this pattern can contribute to neck pain, headaches, and restricted shoulder movement.

Most of us will be returning to work this week after the xmas period, returning to prolonged sitting positions and or repetitive movements.

Limited movement throughout the day reinforces poor postural patterns. Over time, this can lead to neck pain, shoulder stiffness, headaches, and reduced mobility

Regular movement breaks, postural awareness, and hands-on soft tissue therapy help reset muscle tone and support healthier working positions.

If you’re noticing ongoing tension, stiffness, or slower recovery, now is a good time to get booked in and address it before it becomes persistent.

How long till its Spring πŸ€”πŸ˜œ

As the year comes to a close, I just want to say a genuine thank you to you all for you continued support.

I also want to say a heartfelt thank you for the kindness, patience, and support you’ve shown me following my diagnosis. Your understanding while I took time out and well wishes throughout my recovery has been greatly appreciated πŸ™

2025 has certainly been a rollercoaster, however, I feel blessed to be surrounded by some truly wonderful peeps.

Whether you came in with pain, injury, tension, long-standing issues, or simply needing some time to reconnect with your body, it really is a privilege to support you.

I never take it lightly that you choose to place your wellbeing in my hands, and I’m truly grateful for that trust.

Thank you for showing up, for committing to your own health, and for allowing me to be part of your journey β€” whether that’s recovery, maintenance, or simply feeling better in your day-to-day life.

I’m looking forward to continuing the work together in the year ahead and supporting you to move, feel, and live better.

Roll on 2026 πŸ’ͺ

Wishing you a happy, healthy New Year✨️

πŸŽ„ Who's on the Knotty List? πŸŽ„

We all know that person.....

The one who's forever moaning about their shoulders, their aching back, rubbing their neck like it's a full time job, always saying they will get it sorted...but don't.

We have the solution! ....a little nudge wrapped in a voucher 🎁 to help them stop moaning and start moving better.

Consider it a friendly push towards actually feeling human again πŸŽ…

With October being Breast Cancer Awareness month, and a lot of posts being aimed at symptom spotting and breast awareness, I wanted to take a moment to place the spot light onto the importance of attending your NHS breast screening invitations.
Recent annual NHS breast screening have reported that although more women are attending their screening appointments , 30% of women did not attend after invitation.
As some of you are already aware, during the summer, my first NHS breast screening picked up an early form of breast cancer, I had no symptoms, no lump and felt completely fine.
When discussing this with my breast consultant, I was advised it could have been another 2-3 years before I was able to feel a 'lump'
It was found, because I went for my screening, that early detection has meant my treatment could happen before things could develop further.
I know it's easy to put it off - especially when life feels busy or you feel well - but please don't delay/forget about your appointment when that letter comes through.
For anyone who may be feeling nervous/apprehensive, about attending, I found the process to be quick ( I went to a mobile unit for my initial screening appointment and was in/out and back in the car in under 10 minutes) - If anyone has any questions about screening please feel free to drop me a message or pop into see me, my door is always open for a chat.
Remember to take time for your health.

SHF Sports day 2025.. what a day, what a laugh, surrounded by the most amazing people, in the best gym around. The atmosphere was amazing, everyone backing each other, no side-eyes, no egos just genuine cheers and chalk-covered high fives.

A big well done to everyone who took part, those who helped keep scores and load plates and a big thank you for everyone who cheered us all along. Last but not least a huge thank you to James Swan, not only for arranging the day, for such a good cause, but for creating such an awesome environment for people to come together (and obviously being the best coach ever)

I have to say it again, for any peeps out there who are thinking or pondering about joining a gym, look no further than SHF! Whether, your sitting on the fence or apprehensive of taking that first step.....just go for it, you won't regret it.

Calling all running peeps!

Have you pre-booked your next appointment?
With running events in full swing across the region and beyond, this is a gentle reminder for you to secure your next appointment to avoid disappointment/delay for your next treatment when your body needs it most.

For the peeps who are new to running - do you know hands-on soft tissue therapy can make a difference to your recovery? See below for some of the treatment options which may benefit you.

Pre-Event Sports Massage: Helps prepare muscles for intense effort by increasing blood flow and warming the tissues.
Improves flexibility, helping you move freely on race day and can help reduce pre-race tension and anxiety, keeping you calm and focused.

Post-Event Sports Massage: Reduces delayed-onset muscle soreness (DOMS)
Helps remove metabolic waste and aids recovery by stimulating circulation, supports faster return to training - good recovery means fewer niggles!

Injury Prevention: regular hands-on therapy can help identify tights spots or restrictions early on. Supports optimal movement patterns, reducing compensations that can lead to overuse injuries.
Compliments your strength, mobility and rehab plans - keeping you race ready all season.

I offer a range of soft tissue therapies including sports massage, myofascial dry cupping, IASTM to name a few.

DM to pre-book your appointment.

Such a great supportive community under one roof. Well done SHF πŸ‘

We’ve always stated that we’re the gym for everyone, but it’s nice to get a shoutout in The Times Newspaper backing up our claims!

A gym should be a place where anyone, at any stage of life, can work towards their goals and feel comfortable and confident while doing so. We’re proud that our community at SHF can provide an environment where people feel supported and encouraged.

Whatever you’re aiming for, choose a gym that recognises your progress and values your journey πŸ’ͺ🏼

Perimenopause, Menopause & Aches.

Sisters, how come it can feel like one day your body was working just fine, and the next - you're waking up stiff, sore, and aching in places you never used to? If you're in perimenopause or menopause, these aches and pains are more common than you think.

Well what's causing these aches?

During perimenopause and menopause hormone levels - especially estrogen begin to drop. Estrogen doesn't just affect your cycle; it also plays a major role in joint health & lubrication, muscle recovery, inflammation levels, sleep and energy.
When estrogen declines you may start to feel morning stiffness, sore hips, knees, shoulder, back to name a few, fatigue that makes movement harder, slower recovery from everyday activities, general tension or tightness.
Poor sleep (due to night sweats, restless legs, anxiety - the list goes on) can also make it harder for your body to heal, and a natural dip in activity levels can lead to deconditioning - which only adds to discomfort.

How Sports Massage Can Help?

I say it all the time, sports massage isn't just for athletes, it's ideal for anyone who wants to improve how their body feels and moves, especially during life transitions like menopause.
Sports massage reduces muscle tension and stiffness, improves joint mobility, boosts circulation and lymphatic flow, supporting better sleep and stress relief.

Is it right for you?

Absolutely! Whether you are dealing with joint pain, sore muscles, fatigue or just a general sense of ''not feeling right in your body'' sports massage can be tailored to meet your needs, targeted and designed to support you and your body.

DM to chat or book your session, lets help your body feel more like your body again.
