A massage isn’t just about relaxation — it’s about giving your body and mind the space to reset.

It’s time away from daily demands.
Time to restore movement and reduce tension.
Time for your nervous system to calm.
Time to relax, destress, and recharge.

It’s relaxing, yes — but it’s also maintenance for your body, keeping you moving comfortably and preventing niggles before they start.
💆‍♂️ Give yourself the time you deserve — your body will thank you.

🏃‍♂️ I haven’t always thought of myself as a serious runner.

I’ve never had all the fancy kit, I’m not obsessed with gadgets or stats, and I’ve only dipped into running clubs over the last couple of years — and even then I’m not that consistent. Most of the time I just say I’m a fun or recreational runner.

But after this marathon I realised something… ✨

I’ve been running for over 20 years, and all those miles — the easy runs, the long runs, the runs where you don’t really feel like going — they add up more than you think.

I follow plenty of runners online who talk a lot about training, pace, hills, splits and speed sessions. This is all great, but it made me realise that sometimes just being consistent for years can quietly put you in a stronger place than you expect.

I don’t run to prove anything to anyone, and I probably never will! But it was nice to be reminded this weekend that I’m probably a slightly better runner than I give myself credit for.

Sometimes being a bit modest means you get to surprise yourself too. 🎉

Tight neck? Let’s fix that.

Swipe through for 3 simple stretches to help ease neck tension, improve movement, and reduce that stiff, heavy feeling so many of us carry around.

Quick tip: move slowly and gently — keep the stretch comfortable, not forced. You should feel a stretch, not pain. Slow breathing helps the muscles relax and makes the stretch more effective.

Give these a try today and notice how your neck feels afterwards.

Recovery doesn’t always mean doing nothing.

If you run, train, or exercise regularly, you’ve probably heard that rest is important — but complete rest isn’t always what your body needs.

I’ve written a new blog about active recovery, why it matters, and how it can help you feel less stiff, recover better, and keep training consistently.

This is especially relevant if you’re dealing with tight muscles, heavy legs, or feeling like your body never quite loosens up.

What a lovely weekend in Amsterdam! 🇳🇱

It wasn’t just about the running — although hitting a PB on Sunday was a real highlight 🏅

It was about great company, spending the weekend with my husband and our friends Nick and Lindsey — wandering the streets, taking in the sights, sharing lots of laughs, and enjoying plenty of beers and amazing food along the way 🍻🍴

Running, exploring, eating, drinking — and doing it all with people who make it fun — reminded me why weekends like this are so good.

Feeling proud, happy, and already thinking about the next adventure

One thing I see often in clinic is people waiting until something becomes painful before seeking treatment. But massage and soft tissue therapy can also play an important role in maintenance and risk reduction.

Helping to:
✔ reduce tension
✔ support recovery
✔ improve movement
✔ keep you doing the activities you enjoy

Whether you’re running, training, working at a desk, or just feeling a bit tight — a little proactive care can go a long way.

Yesterday I ran the marathon in 3:32:05 — a personal best.

This wasn’t just one day of running. It was months of training, hundreds of kilometres on tired legs, early mornings, and countless long Sunday runs with . Every step carried a little bit of all that effort.

So many of those miles were shared with my friend , putting the world to rights as we ran together, and I wouldn’t have made it without the patience and support of my husband every step of the way.

Getting to this PB reminded me that progress doesn’t come from one big effort. It comes from showing up day after day, looking after your body, pushing when you can, and resting when you need to.

It’s the same lesson I see with my clients: small, consistent steps really do add up.

Feeling proud, grateful, and ready for a little recovery before the next challenge.

Recovery isn’t just doing nothing — it’s an active part of training. 🏃‍♂️💆‍♂️

Whether it’s gentle movement, stretching, or sports massage, recovery helps your body:
• Repair and adapt after hard sessions
• Reduce soreness and stiffness
• Maintain mobility and movement quality

Treat recovery as seriously as your training — it’s just as important for performance and avoiding injury.

Tight calves, quads, or hips after running? 🏃‍♂️💥

You’re not alone — these common niggles often show up during marathon training or high-mileage weeks.

I’ve written a new blog post all about why runners get tight in these areas and what really helps to reduce tension and support your recovery.

If you’re training for a race (or just love running), this should give you a better understanding of your body and how to stay moving comfortably.
