Ultrasound is a great tool in confirming a diagnosis - the two pictures are from two separate scans - when both patients were mechanically tested they both had similar test results - however the ultrasound scan picked up that one was a supraspinatus tendinopathy (rotator cuff) due to the thickness of the tendon compared to the same tendon on the opposite shoulder (right supraspinatus is measured at .76cm compared to left supraspinatus at .67cm).
The second patient had subacromial bursitis as the black line of fluid is clearly seen above the supraspinatus tendon (black line with green highlight)
