Hello to all my horsey people (and the much-appreciated horse husbands too). We are running a 3-day Equestrian First Aid at Work (Level 3, VTG) course next week, and it is designed specifically for life around horses.
If you ride, groom, teach, run a yard, or work in the equestrian world in any capacity, this course is a brilliant way to build confidence and make sure you know exactly what to do when something goes wrong. We will cover essential workplace first aid, but with a real focus on the kinds of incidents we see in equestrian settings.
Over the three days we will look at horse-related injuries and emergencies such as:
Falls and head injuries
Kicks, crush injuries, bites, and serious bleeding
Suspected fractures and spinal concerns
Medical emergencies on yards and at events
What to do whilst waiting for the emergency services, and how to manage an incident safely around horses
The course is recognised within the sport (BSJA) and is designed in line with HSE expectations. On completion, you will receive a nationally recognised certificate, valid for three years.
