Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Counter Assistant to join our pharmacy team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting patient care by providing excellent customer service, assisting with the handling of prescriptions, and ensuring smooth daily operations at the counter within the pharmacy. This role offers an opportunity to work in a professional environment committed to delivering high-quality healthcare services. Prior pharmacy work experience is desirable, but full training can be provided for the right candidate. The position is paid and suitable for individuals who are organised, are attentive to detail, and are passionate about patient well-being.
Due to the nature of this role the successful candidate will be required to undergo a standard Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check as part of the employment process.
Duties:
- Greet customers courteously and assist them with their pharmacy needs
- Support the handling of prescriptions under supervision, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations
- Manage over the counter medicine stock levels, including replenishing shelves and checking expiry dates
- Assist with prescription administration processes as required
- Provide information on over-the-counter products and advise patients on their choices
- Maintain accurate records of transactions and patient interactions
- Uphold strict confidentiality and data protection standards at all times
- Support the pharmacy team in daily operational tasks to ensure efficient service delivery
Qualifications:
- Previous pharmacy work experience is advantageous but not essential; full training can be provided for suitable candidates
- Knowledge of NHS prescriptions administration and patient care principles is preferred
- Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail
- Strong communication skills and a friendly demeanour
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of hygiene, safety, and confidentiality
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities within the pharmacy setting
- IT/computer literacy is essential
- Satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

Pay: £12.21-£12.51 per hour
