Most injuries don’t fail to improve because people don’t try hard enough.
They fail because the problem was never properly assessed.

Before any treatment starts, I look at how the joint moves, how the tissue responds, and what the body is actually protecting.

Only then do we decide what to treat, what to load, and what to avoid.

This is how pain settles.
This is how movement returns.
And this is how people stop going round in circles.

If you’re training with pain or managing the same issue repeatedly, the answer usually isn’t more stretching or more rest.

It’s a better plan. 🧠

Shoulder pain that keeps coming back is rarely random 😬🔁

Most people tell me it flares with one of these
Pressing or pulling 🏋️
Reaching overhead 🙋
Sleeping on it 😴
Long desk days 💻

That pattern matters because it points to a simple problem
Your shoulder can feel strong, but it is not tolerating a specific range or position under load yet ⚡️

What I look for in an assessment ✅
1 Which exact position triggers it
2 How the shoulder blade behaves when you load the arm
3 Whether the neck and upper back are feeding into it
4 Where you lose control, not where you feel pain

What fixes it long term 🔥
1 Calm the irritation so it stops reacting
2 Rebuild control in the painful range
3 Progress the load so you can train without flare ups 💪

If your shoulder keeps flaring, message ASSESS and tell me the one movement that triggers it. I’ll reply with the most likely driver and booking options in Rochdale 📩

Your knee pain might be a control problem, not strength. 🧠🦵

This drill is single leg balance plus a hip hinge on a BOSU. It looks simple, but it’s doing a lot. ⚡️

We’re training neuromuscular control, how your brain coordinates foot, ankle, knee, hip and trunk under load. ✅

Why it matters 👇
In sport and in the gym, you rarely move on perfectly stable ground. If your foot collapses, your knee caves in, or your hip drops when you land or change direction, the body starts borrowing movement from places that get irritated. 🦶➡️🦵➡️🦴

The goal is not to lift heavy on a BOSU. 🚫🏋️
The goal is clean reps, solid alignment, and confidence, then we transfer it back to squats, running, cutting, and real performance. 📈🏃‍♂️

If you’re stuck in a cycle of flare ups, I’ll assess what’s driving it and build a clear progression that actually sticks. 🎯

DM me BALANCE and tell me what hurts and what sport you do. 💬

If your upper traps feel tight 24/7 😤 and your neck or shoulder keeps flaring up, stretching is usually not the answer.

Most cases I see are a control and capacity issue 🧠
Your body is creating tension to stabilise because something is not doing its job well enough.

Common drivers ✅
1 Shoulder blade control drops under load 🏋️‍♂️
2 Upper back is stiff so the neck takes over 🧱
3 Training volume and desk posture keep re irritating it 💻
4 You are strong, but not stable in the ranges you train 📈

What works best is a simple sequence
1 Assess the driver
2 Treat the sensitive tissue
3 Strengthen the weak link so it stays fixed 🔁

If pressing, pulling, driving, desk work, or sleeping sets it off, message SHOULDER 📩
I will tell you the most likely cause and the best next step.

If your calves always feel tight and you cannot hit depth in your squat, it is usually not a stretching problem.

A deep squat needs ankle dorsiflexion. When the ankle cannot bend enough, the body will compensate to find depth. That is when you see heels lifting, feet turning out, knees drifting in, or the torso tipping forward. The squat feels stuck because the ankle is the limiter.

Do this first. Knee to wall test. ✅
Toe 5 to 10 cm from the wall. Heel stays down. Knee tracks over the toes. Compare left vs right.

If you are limited, follow the exact progression in this carousel for 7 days.

Fix 1. Dorsiflexion split squat with tripod foot pressure. 🦶
Big toe, little toe, heel. Heel stays heavy.

Fix 2. Lateral control so the foot does not collapse. 🔒
Own the bottom position.

Fix 3. Earn depth back. 🏋️
Tripod foot. Heels heavy. Knees track. Slow reps. Cut the rep before the heel lifts.

If your ankle feels blocked, pinchy at the front, or you have a history of sprains, stretching usually will not solve it. That is where assessment and targeted treatment, then progressive strengthening, makes the difference. 🎯

Message “SQUAT” and tell me 👇
1 which side feels tighter
2 what training you do
3 what movement triggers it

If you are constantly tight through the upper back and shoulders, it is rarely a willpower issue.
It is usually load, posture, and recovery stacking up.
