HELLO LOVELY PEOPLE 👋 ❤️ 👑 🚘 🧚
So I have now all the wonderful feedback from the day so …….HERE WE GO
🎉 SATURDAY 2ND OF AUGUST
Dressed in true Highland style, Bruce proudly donned his kilt, complemented by a new charcoal grey tweed waistcoat and jacket with distinctive bone buttons, generously gifted once again by Chisholms Highland dress of Inverness.
🚘 Adding a dash of cinematic flair, Bruce transferred into a stunning green 1976 “Monarch Triumph Stag,” lovingly owned by Les Bremner.
Bruce cruised onto the field to the cheers of the crowd, expertly driven by none other than Linda Johns, and announced by the legendary Willie Mackay.
Shades on, Bruce embodied a real James Bond moment, waving to well wishers like royalty.
His destination? The royal tent, where Caz awaited his arrival.
They were welcomed by Seaview’s friend, veteran Kevin Stewart, the kings flag bearer standing proudly.
⛺️ Inside the royal tent, which is organised by Murray Lamont (owner of McKays Hotel in Wick) drinks and canapés were exquisitely presented.
Among the distinguished guests were Caithness MP Jamie Stone and acclaimed accordionist Brandon McPhee amongst others.
💡 But the highlight came when Bruce and Caz were first in line to meet His Majesty King Charles.
👑 The king entered the tent with an air, but not one of unfamiliarity, but of warmth, and honest enquiry to whom he was to meet.
👑 With a warm handshake and birthday wishes, the King and Bruce shared a conversation about their shared connection to the Navy and that he had served his country well.
What a day indeed!
On the drive home to Wick, Caz asked ‘well so what do you think?’
‘Well’ Bruce said, ‘I feel proud to meet the king, I didn’t think it would be as big as it was, and I feel more alive and ready for life than ever!’
Caz- ‘So then, my saying is right is it not? No matter your age, if you think it, you believe it, and if you believe, you can’.
A heartfelt thank you goes to Mey Games ground convenor Henry Gunn, Murray Lamont, Les Bremner and Linda Johns from Caithness Vintage Motors, Chisholms of Inverness, and everyone who worked tirelessly to make the Mey Games such a success.
