Kindness doesn’t always have to be grand gestures. Sometimes, the most important kindness starts with being gentle with yourself.

Grief can last months or years after losing someone you love — and there’s no “right” timeline. This , we’re encouraging you to show yourself the same compassion you’d show a friend.

Here are a few gentle reminders if you’re coping with loss:

🖤 Reach out to a bereavement support group — you don’t have to navigate this alone.
🖤 Talk to friends and family about how you’re feeling. Saying it out loud can help more than you think.
🖤 Prioritise self-care — rest, eat well, and move your body where you can.
🖤 If you need time off work, ask for it. Giving yourself space is not weakness.
🖤 Explore mental wellbeing resources, from mindfulness to professional support.

Grief can be immediate, delayed, overwhelming, or quiet. However it shows up for you is valid. But you don’t have to carry it on your own.

After a death, there are many practical matters to manage alongside everything else you’re dealing with. The Tell Us Once service is designed to make this process a little easier by allowing you to inform multiple government departments at the same time.

This free service can be used to notify organisations such as the DVLA, HMRC and local councils, helping to reduce the need for repeated contact and easing some of the administrative burden during a difficult period.
