Positive ✨Birth story incoming👇

I was lucky enough to have a wonderful home birth in 2020 amidst the COVID pandemic. I spent my whole pregnancy deliberating a home birth and finally made the decision to transfer to the team at 36 weeks.

My only regret is not transferring to the team sooner which is why as soon as I found out i was pregnant again I booked straight in the with home birth team. The team always made me feel safe and like I was in charge of my body. My labour was quick and I was in control. When midwife just arrived I was in active labour and she just told me to keep doing what I was doing and to listen to my body. We didn't have time to use my birth pool but I still managed to have my water birth in my bath!

Some women would never consider a home birth as an option. Maybe it hasn't been offered as a choice during antenatal discussion. Maybe it has never crossed your mind. Maybe people have made negative remarks or comments about home births which has then impacted your choice.

Home birth is a safe option. There are numerous studies and up to date evidence which will back up this argument. Please read reliable information when choosing your place of birth, good resources such as can help in your decision making.
The information in the post was taken from a 2020 Lancet meta analysis of over 500,000 home births planned first time home births and 2014 systematic review looking at planned home births and number of hospital transfers.

The midwives on our team can provide you with detailed information regarding home birth, safety, transfer rates and support in labour at home. We are available monthly at different venues to discuss home births and we will be releasing more home birth event dates soon.

“Thanks to the incredible team of
midwives that delivered our son
in our home and later cared for
me in the best possible way. We
owe them so much”

The lovely posted some info about the birth of her lovely boy James Antony 20-12-22

We thought we would share her responses to Q&A session she offered her followers.

💭 How did you plan your homebirth?
Once we'd made the decision, I told my initial midwife and she referred me across
to .
There are some practicalities to sort such as hiring the pool, needing equipment like
a hose, plastic sheets etc and just ensuring you've got towels and various other bits
ready for the big day.

🤔 How did you decide on a homebirth?
We didn't make the decision until we were around 36 weeks and it was after
going to the Liverpool Women's AnteNatal class which was hosted by Cheryl from
The science behind birth means that birthing at home lends itself to a less stressful labour. There are a lot of stats around home birth resulting in less interventions and complications.
I have links to these if anyone wants them.

💭 Who was your midwife?
Faye was my midwife & Ashley and Michelle delivered James and then Faye was here for my aftercare. I've also had a visit from Sarah and I'm seeing someone for his check up today. The whole
team are just beyond amazing, it really is much more personal care with .
We owe them alot. Birth isn't easy but they are with you and coach you every step of the way. I'm
really so grateful to the whole team.
