Reflecting on World Reflexology Week today ✨

My weeks are filled with holistic treatments generally, but as it was World Reflexology Week last week, I really wanted to focus on reflexology, how it supports my clients and how it has enhanced my life ✨

With permission, one of my lovely clients allowed me to photograph a session, and I think the calm, serene energy of reflexology really came through in the images ✨

As a holistic treatment, reflexology is my number one for clients who need a truly nurturing and grounding treatment. As we work with the feet, the most physically grounded part of the body, the part of us that literally connects us to the earth, reflexology feels so grounding when we feel a little out of balance. It engages the body, mind and nervous system in a deeply calming way, as pressure points linked to the parasympathetic nervous system are stimulated ✨

Our feet work so hard, and they can hold a surprising amount of tension that we may not be aware of. During a reflexology treatment that tension is dissolved, releasing a lot of physical and emotional stress ✨

The benefits of reflexology are vast, I’ve mentioned only a few here, and during this past week devoted to this amazing treatment, I noted that my clients felt:
✨Relaxed
✨Serene
✨Grounded
✨Refreshed
✨Light
✨Rejuvenated
✨Calm

The entire body is represented in the feet, and with over 7000 reflex points to work with in reflexology treatments, this practice is really quite amazing. In my own life, I have found that this treatment (when I am lucky enough to receive one), reduces stress, improves hormonal symptoms and increases energy, which is gold to me! As a practitioner though, I love reflexology for its ability to connect me with my clients. When I practice it, I feel calmer and more grounded myself, and the reward I feel when a client feels better afterwards, is so lovely ✨

Thank you to my client who gracefully allowed me to capture our session, and to all my clients who love reflexology as much as I do ✨💛

The wheel of the year turns again today, and autumn equinox is here! 🍁

To celebrate the new season ahead, I have a new guided meditation on my Insight Timer page called Letting Go. It is perfect for this time of year, but can of course be played at any time 🍁

This is a deeply relaxing meditation to calm, ground and relieve tension and anxiety. Embracing the spirit of autumn, this guided visualization will take you to a sacred stream within a magical forest. In this space, you are invited to tune into any difficult situations in
your life. Here beside this sacred stream, immersed in this healing place you will find peace by surrendering any fears or worries to nature, a force far greater than yourself 🍁

By embracing the earth’s natural cycle of release and rebirth in this short guided meditation, you will align with your true nature of ease and peace. You can use this meditation to invite release, inner peace and a feeling of lightness and renewal by letting go of what is no longer serving you 🍁

As with all of my meditations, I wrote this one with the inspiration of a location which I have visited many times in my own life. I originally wrote this particular meditation for my meditation classes with my cancer patients and their carers, who are dealing with many fears and worries. I then went on to use it for classes at a women’s centre. All my clients have found this meditation to be deeply nurturing and peaceful; a healing time to truly relax, and find some space and release from the difficulties they are facing 🍁

We are at the mid point of September 🍂

How are you feeling? Are you back into the swing of things, after the long, vibrant summer months? Are you feeling the inspiration, focus and organization that this new season brings? Or are you finding it more challenging to be motivated, as the nights draw in and the days become cooler?

Changes, even positive ones, can feel overwhelming sometimes. Season shifts, school or college changes, new work schedules or just adapting to a new routine can take some time to re align with. In my own life, my children are adapting to a new college and university year. Some friends are staying, but some are moving on, and that is taking some getting used to for them. Change is hard sometimes. I have a new work/life balance that is positive, but it’s still a change to navigate after an intense season of full time work. I’m excited for a new season and new opportunities. My intention is to just be open to what is waiting to come in.

If September is feeling overwhelming, taking a little bit of time each day to just be present with the new season can be so helpful. What speaks to you the most about autumn? What brings you the most comfort about the shift into this darker, cooler, pretty season of falling leaves, cozy sweaters and piping hot mugs of tea?

Get quiet, find your breath and sink into the coziness in a way that feels good to you. Step away from the busyness of your day for just a few minutes and tune into the vision you have for yourself for the cooler months ahead - the remainder of this year. Now soften your jaw, allow your shoulders to move away from your ears and open your chest - make space for your breath to flow with ease, as you feel into the new beginnings that September offers. Whatever the changes are in your life, nature is showing us that everything shifts, the old is released when it’s ready to leave, and the new is always waiting to arrive again and again. We just have to align with the season, take it all in and wait for the magic to happen 🍂🧡

My little yoga friend would have been 15 years old today ❤️ We all miss her gentle presence so much.

We were blessed to spend 10 of her 14 birthdays with her, she joined our family when she was 4 years old. We miss her everyday, but we will miss her even more today ❤️

A busy week of reflexology, as the new season gets underway 💛

Reflexology is a wonderful holistic therapy, and one that my clients keep coming back to. The benefits of this practice are numerous, and extend way beyond relaxation 💛

This week I have worked with clients who find reflexology treatments so beneficial and supportive for symptoms of menopause, pain relief and support for symptoms of fibromyalgia, plantar fasciitis, ovulation pain, PMS and general hormone balancing and adrenal support 💛

Reflexology is such a nurturing and balanced treatment to support general health and wellbeing for everyone, but it is particularly beneficial to women’s health. It truly is a practice that supports every age and stage of the female life cycle. Here are some of the nurturing benefits:

💛 Pain relief
💛Deep relaxation
💛Relief from and reduction of hormonal symptoms of PMS, menstruation, peri-menopause and menopause
💛Nervous symptom regulation, and stress and anxiety relief
💛Increased energy and circulation
💛Increased nerve function
💛Supports fertility
💛Reduction in allergy symptoms, headaches and migraines
💛Supports and nurtures those with life changing illness.

Reflexology is a practice dating back thousands of years, and as the entire body is represented in the feet, (with over 7000 reflex points to work with), this practice invites the ability to work on the whole body in a relaxing and deeply nourishing way 💛

If you would like to experience the benefits of reflexology, and you are local to the Halton, Warrington or South Liverpool area, connect with me here by DM, or visit my website sacrednorthyoga.com 💛

New month, and new season just around the corner 🍂

A time for resetting mind and body and stepping back into our routines after a long and very warm summer! 🍂

September is the month for working with the energy of Virgo, that earthy, grounded energy that resets our rhythm, and brings us into balance after those summer months of holidays and high energy. As the solar power that we love so much begins to fade with the earth natural cycle, we begin to crave routine and organization in our lives again 🍂

So as cozy season begins, what better time for self care, and setting intentions for the season ahead 🍂

My new work schedule begins this month. I will be returning to Halton Cancer Support Group, working with my cancer patients, their carers and those recently bereaved. I will be offering holistic therapies there and also in my private practice at sacrednorthyoga.com. As always Iyengar yoga, meditation, reiki, reflexology and wellness coaching are all available for embracing this new season with cozy, healing magic 🍂

Message me for availability, or contact me on my website sacrednorthyoga.com
Happy September! 🍂🧡

Summer break it here! ☀️

Time to slow down a little, spend time with family and friends, rest and recalibrate, after a great, but intense season of work.

I’ve really enjoyed my time working with women of all ages and backgrounds at a women’s centre. The work was both challenging and rewarding; using all my skills and experience in holistic health, well-being, counselling and social care. I worked with mental health, stress and anxiety management, bereavement, physical health challenges and many other issues affecting women today. Using meditation, reiki, yoga, counselling, listening skills, coaching and art therapy, and creating courses to manage anxiety and regulate emotions, it was an amazing learning experience for me to hone my skills further, and provide much needed care for my clients.

It is now time to soak up some healing rays, rest, and care for my own little family for a while. Then back to teaching yoga, and bringing holistic therapies and well-being to more women in the community in the Fall 💛

It was the last yoga/wellness session for my cancer clients this week, and the feedback has been so lovely! 💜

I’m so happy that everyone enjoyed and found real benefit in these sessions. It really has been such a privilege to offer this, and I’m hoping that I can organize a local class soon to continue this work 💜

This weeks class was about letting go, which was perfect for Samhain. We worked with Bhramari pranayama (bee breath) to calm, centre and release tension in mind and body. Followed by a reiki self healing exercise. Then some hip and shoulder opening poses, as these two areas are where we often store our emotions. The group did so well on these, and the improvement in their confidence and mobility over the weeks has been a joy to experience. Lastly, a beautiful nature inspired meditation, and a reiki healing Savasana 💜

I trained to be an Iyengar yoga teacher to inspire others, and to offer the benefits of this practice. I’ve loved bringing these to my cancer clients, and I really hope that it’s just the beginning of my next teaching chapter 🙏🏼💜
