Not Your Typical Saturday Night…
While most people were out with friends or watching the latest Netflix release, I spent my Saturday night doing something a little different - customising an AAC device whilst listening to my two dogs play-fighting in the background. Not very rock and roll, I know! 🎸🤘🏼
But here’s the thing: this work is so important! Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) gives children a way to express themselves, and customising it means making it truly their own. 💫 Every child deserves to have their unique voice heard - whether that’s through words, symbols, or even emojis!
It’s not just about programming buttons; it’s about empowering children to connect with the world in a way that’s meaningful to them. Maybe they need a button for “I love dinosaurs,” or a quick way to tell their friends, “Let’s play football!” Whatever their needs, AAC is a bridge to independence, confidence, and connection🫸🏼🫷🏿
So, while my Saturday may not have been glamorous, it was incredibly rewarding. Every button pressed is a step closer to giving a child their voice 💬
🥳 Let’s celebrate every child’s voice - because every child has something amazing to say!
