➡️How can you prevent ear wax build up?

This is one question I get asked a lot and it should also be one of the key pieces of advice provided to patients after having ear irrigation.

➡️ Once per week apply olive oil drops

It really is as simple as that ✅.

Doing this will help soften any wax present which will then naturally exit the ear, preventing a build up and reoccurrance of wax occlusion.

Note: This is a preventative measure and may not stop a patient from ever having ear irrigation again in the future but it can help delay the need for irrigation.

👂Ear "syringing" is no more!!!

It has changed to a much more safe and gentle option now 😅

A machine is now used, which involves warm water being flushed into the ear with a very small tip end, using a level of pressure guided by the machine rather than manually pushing a syringe like before!! The wax is dislodged and all the water and wax is caught in the ear tank 👍

There are 4 different levels of pressure used. If the wax is soft enough, the first 2 levels will be sufficient enough to remove the wax. I never go above level 2. This is also much more safer for the patient than going into " jet wash mode" as I call it 😆
