It was only a few weeks ago that we decided to begin this campaign with very little time and no experience fundraising between us we dove in head first raising a total of £900!
On the 14th August 2022 to mark her first anniversary, Karen's son Jack T was accompanied by Jack M, Jordan T, Jordan R, Danielle S, Liam R, and Billy W to dominate England's biggest mountain Scafell Pike!🗻
After a long early drive and a stop for a cheeky coffee, we got to Wasdale Head.
Beginning the walk at 9am we were met by high temperatures, sore muscles, the odd wrong turn and a few bickers along the way 😇😂 but alas we reached the top in time for a few squashed butties and a drink ready to head back down via the Lords Rake route... I'm still aching now😅.
I still think Danielle is holding Jack in the dog house for persuading her into joining us given this was her first ever mountain walk she had no idea what she was getting herself into I am safe to say we were all equally surprised and extremely proud of her mettle and spirit to persevere. So well done most 'lad' 💪.
With the funds raised added with Gov Gift Aid, this brings us to roughly £1,100 which I had no idea we were capable of. Nonetheless, we did and would like to thank all those that donated every penny with a special thank you to Bates Scaffolding Services Ltd for sponsoring us with the highest donation of £100. this money will be pledged to Wigan and Leigh Hospice at the request of Karen's children for their unwavering support in her end-of-life care with comments such as 'they couldn't have done any more for mum'
