Doing a mix of exercises is good for you.
I completely agree. Mixing up different types of exercise really is the key to keeping fit. Yoga will always have my heart, but over the past year I’ve learned just how powerful variety can be.
I joined a gym around 10 months ago, slightly sceptical after past memberships where I paid monthly and rarely went. This time has been different. I’d heard that women of my age (Gen X 🙋♀️) really benefit from strength training, and although it sounded intimidating, I gave it a go. Starting with light weights in a Body Pump class, I slowly built confidence, strength, and consistency. I’ve since added Body Combat, Pilates, cardio tennis, and even tried padel, all while improving my cardio fitness and having a lot of fun along the way.
Alongside this, yoga remains my anchor. It grounds me, stretches out tired muscles, keeps me flexible (hello deeper squats!), calms my mind and breath, and gives me the confidence to keep moving, exploring, and feeling strong in my body. Daily dog walks in muddy woods help too. Fresh air, vitamin D, and plenty of steps 🐾
I honestly don’t think I’ve ever felt fitter or more balanced. Yoga has supported everything else I do and continues to support me, mentally and physically. It’s reassuring to know I’m doing the right things for my future self… and enjoying the journey along the way.
This is exactly the energy I bring to my pop-up yoga sessions
Accessible, grounding, supportive yoga for real bodies and real lives.🧘♀️
Come along and try for yourself. Your future self may just thank you.

Don't just focus on one activity - doing a variety every week gives you more health benefits, a study suggests.
