Positive story from Tracey our wonderful manager at Eldervale.

Recently, I attended a safeguarding course at Wigan, and during a break I got chatting with another professional. We quickly realised we both work in the same area.

As our conversation flowed, she shared that someone she supports lives alone I spoke about the activities we run at our extra care schemes , including our coffee & cake afternoons and karaoke, and I warmly invited them to come along.

That Sunday, they attended - and it was truly special to see. What started as a simple conversation turned into something much more meaningful. There was laughter, connection, and a real sense of togetherness. Everyone joined in, creating a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere where people could just enjoy the moment.

It was especially heartwarming to see moments of engagement and happiness that might not otherwise happen. Since then, they’ve returned for more activities, building relationships, enjoying conversation, and becoming part of our amazing community.

For me, this is what progress with unity looks like—different services coming together to support people in the best way possible, reducing isolation and creating opportunities that truly enhance someone’s life.

It reminds me that sometimes, the smallest things - a conversation, an invitation - can make the biggest difference.

Moments like this really stay with you and highlight just how meaningful our roles are in care 💜
