A powerful new window mural at our Thomas Linacre Centre is shining a light on breast cancer awareness and encouraging women to prioritise their health.

Created by artists from ReDoo with U CIC and Soroptimist International Swallows, Wigan, the artwork is a vibrant reminder of the importance of early detection and attending breast screening appointments.

This Meet the Team Monday, we’re spotlighting our incredible Interventional Radiology Team at the Royal Albert Edward Infirmary. Made up of skilled Doctors, Nurses, and Radiographers, this team plays a vital role in patient care across specialties including Vascular, Urology, and Gastroenterology, looking after patients who need procedures done under X-Ray, Ultrasound or CT.

It’s Organ Donation Week! (22-28 September)

Vikki Whittle from Wigan shares the moving story of her mum, Gillian Tagg, who donated her organs after passing away in 2019. Gillian’s kindness lives on through the lives she saved and her contribution to MND research.

“Mum always said, ‘I won’t need them when I go.’ She was the most loving soul, and even in death, she gave the gift of life.”

Every day, someone dies waiting for a transplant. Last year, 400 people lost their lives while waiting for the organ they so desperately needed.

This week, we’re urging everyone to sign up to the organ donor register and talk to your loved ones about your decision. You’re more likely to need a transplant than to become a donor - and most of us would accept an organ if we needed one.
