A very happy 88th to the lovely Hilda! 🎉

What a way to celebrate. Gary Hirst came along to sing songs we know and love in the lounge.

It was fantastic to see so many residents joining in. Jimmy brought his own microphone and gave a fantastic rendition of Sweet Caroline!

Morning newspapers and news stories to start the week, followed by Holy Communion at 2.30pm.

Tuesday 🎤
Indoor games in the morning, then Ashley leads a sing-along karaoke session at 2.30pm.

Wednesday 🎵
One to one time in the morning, then a music quiz and Name That Tune at 2.30pm.

Thursday 🎶
Life history in the morning, then live entertainment with Glo Sing at 2.30pm.

Friday 🏆
Great British Chat to start the day, then afternoon prize bingo at 2.30pm.

“That was a lovely afternoon. It was like being back at choir at my church.” - Trish

Care Ministry Gospel Group spent the afternoon at Shawcross this week, with residents singing along to psalms and hymns they knew well.

For several ladies and gents, the songs brought back memories of church and choir. There were happy tears for some, during an afternoon that meant a lot to the people who took part. 💛

Les and Mary enjoyed our recent trip to the Dementia Café at the Salvation Army. ☕💛

We sang along to songs about being happy and not worrying, made the most of the sunshine (17 degrees in Wigan!) ☀️ and took in the first signs of spring coming through. 🌼

Our weekly Dementia Café visits. ☕💛

Each week we head out to the Salvation Army run event with different residents. On this visit earlier this month we supported Les, Carol, Dennis and Cath. We chose to take the public bus for a change of experience.

Cath loved being back on the bus after years, and we spent time chatting, meeting new people and picking up ideas for the garden. 🌱 🚌

Easter’s around the corner… the perfect excuse for a trip out. 🐣🌸

Marie, Rita, Les, Carol, Hilda and Hannah hopped on the minibus to Newbank for lunch, a cuppa and a browse of all the beautiful spring flowers. We also couldn’t resist picking up some lovely Easter decorations for our home.
