Being a nurse becomes part of who you are
The way you speak to people, care for people, and show up for people doesn’t just switch off when your shift ends. And sometimes, if I’m honest, I probably carry that too much into everyday life and business too.
Nursing teaches you kindness, patience, empathy, and compassion. It teaches you to put others first, to care deeply, and to always try to do the right thing, even when it’s hard.
Sometimes that’s a strength. Sometimes it’s also to your own detriment.
Running a clinic has taught me that being kind and having good morals is important, but so are boundaries, confidence, and knowing your worth. I’m still learning that balance.
But regardless of how hard this profession can be, I’ll always be proud to be a nurse. Proud of the people I’ve worked alongside, the care I’ve given, and proud to be part of a profession filled with some of the strongest and most compassionate people I know.
Happy International Nurses Day 12th May 🖤
