Today I had the absolute privilege of officiating the funeral service for a truly remarkable lady and what an honour it truly was.

She lived an incredible 105 years, witnessing the reign of four Kings and one Queen, and seeing the election of 23 Prime Ministers. To receive a birthday card from Queen Elizabeth on her 100th birthday, and later from King Charles and Queen Camilla on her 105th, speaks volumes about the extraordinary life she lived.

But beyond all of that history, what shone the brightest was who she was to her family , a much loved mum, nan, and great-grandmother, and the heart of everything.

I’ll also be smiling for a long time at her own secret to a long and happy life…

Yesterday we said goodbye to Margaret with a beautiful, traditional send off — simple, dignified, and full of love.

Every funeral is unique, just like the life it honours. It’s so important to create a farewell that truly reflects the person and the memories they leave behind.

Margaret’s service felt exactly right for her, a heartfelt tribute to a life well lived.
