This year, I watched clients find their way home to themselves, often for the first time. It happened quietly, sometimes so subtly they only realised it afterwards, but that is the real miracle of The SOMA Massage Method™. When the body feels safe, it remembers who it is.

As the year closes, I am holding deep gratitude for every person who allowed me to walk alongside their healing. And next year, I will be teaching therapists how to create that same felt sense of safety in their own work, so more people can experience what it means to come back to themselves.

This year reminded me, again, that healing isn’t something we perform. It’s something our bodies slowly agree to.

I learned that slowness is often the doorway in.
That tension carries its own intelligent story.
That presence, real, grounded presence, can shift more than any technique ever will.
And I learned that the body doesn’t open because we tell it to, it opens when it feels met.

This is the heart of The SOMA Massage Method.

We don’t rush.
We don’t override.
We listen, we follow, and we work with the body’s natural intelligence rather than against it.

Burnout is not a personal failure. It is a message from your nervous system, letting you know it has been carrying more than it has capacity for.

We often assume burnout means we were not strong enough, organised enough, or resilient enough, but the truth is far simpler and far kinder. Burnout happens when the body has been in protection mode for too long, when we push through tiredness, ignore the tightening in our chest, or override the small signals asking us to slow down.

Your system does not collapse to punish you. It collapses to keep you safe. Burnout is not weakness, it is wisdom. It is your body calling you back, asking for safety, steadiness and a gentler pace.

So many of us treat tension as background noise.

A tight shoulder here, a stiff neck there, the bits we stretch, rub, and move on from. But the body isn’t trying to annoy us, it’s trying to start a conversation.

Tension often forms when we’ve held too much for too long. Ignored signals become patterns. Patterns become pain. And pain becomes the story we think we have to live with.

So many of the signs we label as “stress” or “being too much in our heads” are actually our nervous systems asking for safety.

A shallow breath.
A restless mind.
A fast reaction that arrives before we do.

These aren’t failures or personality traits, they’re old protective patterns doing their best with what they know. When you catch one, try meeting it gently instead of correcting it.

Feel your feet.
Lengthen your exhale.
Give your body a moment to settle.
