The Movement Guy

I believe that every single person has an untapped potential and purpose in this world and are capable of than far more than they realise and I believe that it all starts with a healthy, nourished body

On a daily basis I am privileged enough to work with a wide variety of people of all ages and ability's and help realise just how strong and capable they really are using a variety of different tra

ining styles i.e. pure strength, interval conditioning, yoga, strongman style, H.I.I.T, body-building and basic bodyweight conditioning

I don't believe one style is better than the other and that in order to reach your full potential as a human being and athlete you need a hybridization of it all

Now as for diet, nutrition etc. again I believe in a simple almost 'primitive' approach of good nutritious food and an eating protocol similar to our ancestors and everyone who has tried it has experienced reduced or complete lack of cravings, reduced body fat, improved energy, food and mood and subsequent improvements in the rest of their lives.

A good way to get your HEART RATE up while building MOBILITY is to chain movements together into a FLOW

Rather than doing 10 of this, 10 of that, Unlike to mix a few movements up, that way there's no opportunity to get STIFF you have to leave GIVE in the system so you can FLOW into the next movement

Kettlebells and dumbbells are both great for this

The HIP is a very MOBILE joint with the capacity to move at a very high VELOCITY and produce large amounts of FORCE (think kicking) but we often train it in a very LIMITED way

We build Large amounts of STRENGTH in a tiny fraction of its capacity - creating an IMBALANCE

The body isn't capable of CHANNELING this POWER outside of a limited RANGE safely so it CLOSES DOWN our movement options

We try STRETCHING, MOBILITY DRILLS, MASSAGE, LOADED MOBILITY, but these often create more issues - forcing LAXITY into the system and creating more IMBALANCES

MOBILE, but TIGHT
FLEXIBLE, but SORE
CAPABLE, but VULNERABLE

The best way to RESTORE your HIP MOBILITY is to learn how to move it through a VARIED range under LOAD, how to create SPACE while GRAVITY is acting upon you and developing your NERVOUS SYSTEMS capacity to STABILISE and MOBILISE while in motion

This drill isn't just about the LEG that's moving, the leg that's STABILISING is the real star

Movement sessions are available in WIGAN and in Bury

I keep the movements I do as simple as possible and they mostly revolve around Gait - teaching people how to distribute their load efficiently as they move

Once someone is competent with the basics I'll start to load and velocity, upping the neurological demand

The intention of this one is to put give in the system and teach you how to absorb and release, how to stay fluid while moving with intention, over and over without breaking down

A kids superpower, the reason they can go from 0-60 and trash your living room at the drop of a hat isn't just youth, it's that they have a pliable nervous system and tissue that can respond rapidly, contracting and relaxing to meet whatever demands are placed upon it - something we lose as we age and traditional gym training erodes

Tension is that enemy of movement and too much will degrade all aspects of your health

Bringing Movement diversity to the masses

When someone has been bed bound and before that relying on a walker, its not just the muscle that atrophies - it's the neurology too

Movement becomes very single planar in nature - up and down, forward and back - and movement options become limited, the body closes down those options to keep you safe - but you can become a prisoner in your own body

This leads to poor muscle activation, loss of balance, coordination - structures are starved of blood, oxygen and nutrients. Waste builds up senescent cells aren't cleared, inflammation rises, the system breaks down on multiple levels

Efficient biomechanics aren't just about pain and injury, they're how everything in the body gets done and once they break down so does everything else

The body isn't levers and pulleys, it's a highly advanced integrated system that we barely understand that requires the right movement inputs to thrive

If you or someone you know is struggling with mobility - get in touch

Ass whispering😂

Glutes are a very misunderstood muscle with the general consensus being that big glutes will fix everything from back pain to the economu - but are we just creating more issues?

The hip is the second most mobile joint in body, meaning that the attached meat also has a large movement capacity but when we train a small portion of that capacity, like thrusting and squatting, we create an imbalance and a Neurological deficit that forces the body to take safety precautions

You've built 2D strength so your body takes 3D options off the table to prevent overloads, your hips get tight, your squat more shallow and your Gait degrades

Then something forces you into a more 3D motion - an unexpected slip, a twist, a curb - and that power gets channeled through something that isn't prepared to handle it and it blows

This creates more tension, you lose more movement and then someone gives you hip thrust and split squats as a remedy and the cycle repeats

Building glute strength can be hugely beneficial but learning how to use your glutes through a large range of motion and varied way is just as important

This is drill I use to help people learn how to use their glutes to provide stability though planes/ranges that they're usually compensate their way through, laying a foundation for more demanding movements

Immensely proud of this young man, what a warrior

Pulling away from the fitness industry and traditional training/rehab has been difficult, my whole identity was built around the gym, around suffering, around putting myself through hell daily in the hope that I would find what I've been looking for

But when I look at what I've been able to do with the most broken people imaginable, I know it was the right move - even if it meant feeling completely lost and isolated

The system isn't working, people aren't getting fixed and the various remedies are creating as many problems as they solve

We've replaced movement and play with hamster wheels and suffering and placed such a huge emphasis on form that function has gone out the window

The body isn't levers and pulleys, stabilisers and movers, phasic and tonic - it's an integrated system that evolved over millions of years to distribute load and forces effortlessly and efficiently while facilitating the delivery of nutrients and removal of waste

How you move it vitally important to every aspect of your health which is why my system revolves around restoring Gait and why I ain't a fan of anything that disrupts it, including excessive gym training

A simple drill that'll teach everything to work together and will do more for your pain/tension than any mobility drills or stretch

🤕Pain, injuries and loss of movement aren't inevitable, but they are extremely common, especially in those who train, and the rates of injury and chronic pain amongst exercisers and recreational athletes are raising at an alarming rate

💪Traditional gym training is often very limited from a movement perspective, as is running, and even the disciplines with more movement ingredients still favour loading the sagittal heavily

🏋️‍♂️We create large capacities in a limited movement window, resulting in the body stiffening up to protect us from channeling that strength elsewhere - your body is doing what it can to protect you from yourself and your inability to distribute load efficiently across the whole system

The solution?

🧘‍♀️Stretching, mobility drills, yanking on bands, more loading.... Which creates, well, forces, laxity into the system, creating temporary relief but even more issues

🕔The mobility sessions become longer, more necessary, more does less, recovery sessions mount up, then the peptides, the breath work, the cold, the hot, the massages, gear...... But nothing works, not like it used too and the system develops faults inside and out

👴You dedicate years of your life to training only to feel less capable than when you started and the only thing you can manage is the gym, but even that hurts (it's me🙋)

The answer isn't more, it's less and the medicine is improving how you move through in life, not just the gym

Integrated fluid movements will nourish your mobility and your body, creating flexibility, strength and adaptability while improving all aspects of your health

Nige looking strong ahead of his Painathon after a clearout last week - if you'd like to support him in any way to help raise money for I'll add the link at the bottom and in my story

'On Saturday 27th June, local fundraiser Nige will take on an extreme three-stage endurance challenge to raise £10,000 for Daffodils Dreams, a Wigan-based charity supporting vulnerable children and families.

This is no ordinary fundraiser.

Nige’s challenge — a true painathon — will push him to his physical and mental limits:

He will pull a barge from Wigan Pier to Crooke, with other barges following in support.
He will then walk barefoot with 35kg on his shoulders to Sherringtons.
Finally, he will finish on his hands and knees to The Boars Head in Standish.

Every step, every pull, every painful moment is for children who are facing hardship and uncertainty — children who rely on Daffodils Dreams for clothing, essentials, activities, and emotional support when they need it most.

Nige has supported Daffodils Dreams before, completing a challenge last year that brought the community together and was even featured on Channel 5’s “Hero of the Week”, shining a light on the charity’s impact across Wigan and Leigh.'

Posture is a complex and individual issue that is influenced by multiple things, both physical and psychological, but it does provide a window into how an individual is dealing with load, gravity and life - it shows us how there nervous system feels about movement

APT (anterior pelvic tilt) is a low hanging fruit often used to diagnose an individuals 'issues' but many athletes display a pronounced one and it's necessary for movement

PPT (posterior pelvic tilt) is less discussed but is also common - usually the result of overstretching to fix 'tight muscles' resulting in instability and the body locking down other areas to keep it safe

Each position is necessary but so is being able to move between the two, seamlessly, if you can't it's gonna start to create issues

That's why rather than addressing tight this or that, I focus on developing basic movements, restoring gait and balance - once we do this posture will adjust accordingly and the nervous system will begin to let go of excess tension

Flexible but tight?

Mobile but sore?

Strong but vulnerable?

People spend an absolute fortune and use all sorts of products/procedures to keep their skin looking youthful, but what if it doesn't need to be that complicated?

🔴Clinical research into Red Light Therapy has consistently shown that specific wavelengths (primarily 633nm and 830nm) act as a biological "jumpstart" for the skin

👨‍🔬Studies, including a 2025 meta-analysis, demonstrate that this light is absorbed by the mitochondria, significantly increasing ATP (cellular energy)

⚡This surge in energy allows fibroblasts to repair tissue and synthesize new collagen and elastin at an accelerated rate—with some clinical trials observing up to a 48% increase in collagen density and a 24% improvement in skin firmness

📉Beyond anti-aging, research highlights its powerful anti-inflammatory effects, which help clear acne, reduce redness, and cut post-procedure healing times by up to 50%

🔗Combining it with copper peptide will significantly improve the effectiveness of both
