The Movement Guy

I believe that every single person has an untapped potential and purpose in this world and are capable of than far more than they realise and I believe that it all starts with a healthy, nourished body

On a daily basis I am privileged enough to work with a wide variety of people of all ages and ability's and help realise just how strong and capable they really are using a variety of different training styles i.e. pure strength, interval conditioning, yoga, strongman style, H.I.I.T, body-building and basic bodyweight conditioning

I don't believe one style is better than the other and that in order to reach your full potential as a human being and athlete you need a hybridization of it all

Now as for diet, nutrition etc. again I believe in a simple almost 'primitive' approach of good nutritious food and an eating protocol similar to our ancestors and everyone who has tried it has experienced reduced or complete lack of cravings, reduced body fat, improved energy, food and mood and subsequent improvements in the rest of their lives.

Water bags are a cool way to up the neurological demands of a movement and add in a bit of unpredictability

In James’s case I want him to be able to react to changes of force/load as he moves - building confidence in his ability to use his ankle to its full potential again

24/03/2026

looking solid in his movement, he’s more confident standing and it does tax his nervous system as much now so we can do the majority of his session standing

An absolutely amazing young man

Rehabbing complex cases like has taught me a lot, mainly to look out for the tiniest glimmers of activity, slight changes in tone, a shift in intention - things that are completely overlooked, if apparent at all

You see/feel shifts in the tissue and even if the movement isn’t there, there’s usually an opportunity that can be exploited

i.e Dan has been gradually getting more movement out of this arm with the right feedback/stimulus and while he hasn’t got the strength to press up like this right now, I new he was getting closer so I provided some support/feedback with rope and helped him build his movement map - leading to him being able to engage and start to press up at the end

I love this 💩

Helping with a stubborn Achilles issue and moving her Mortons Neuroma forward after she’s been told her only option is surgery

I’m definitely not against surgery, having my knee rebuilt has been life changing, but if all you have is a hammer everything’s a nail

And while some surgeries are definitely warranted, a lot can be avoided by addressing issues within the tissues as well as biomechanical faults

I’m not saying I can prevent every surgery but what have you got to loose by trying something different first?

🔴Red light is super simple way to boost your recovery, health and energy

It’s been a key part of my recovery for the past 5 years and on top of helping me to manage/reverse chronic pain, stress and anxiety, its also helped my skin, eyes (floaters) and hair - even my T levels after coming off TRT

It helps me to unwind at night/sleep better, it helps boost my recovery after hard activity days, it gives me a boost when I’m feeling drained, it’s mint

If you’re looking for a simple way to boost your health and recovery then Red Light is a great place to start

You can buy bulbs/panels online or you can come down to the Hub and try out our full panel for as little as £22 + we can Taylor a package to your unique needs that includes red light - it works great combined with PEMF

A fun rig up

The first step in improving Achilles issue

I say this a lot but as big as I am on movement, a bit of pressure/friction can do wonders for the proprioceptive feedback network that is your tissue calming signals, easing inflammation, improving muscle activation and opening the door of opportunity for the next stage - movement restoration…….

James booked a block to help regain his ankle mobility/capacity after a nasty break, but that was just the entry point

While we have done things to work the ankle directly the vast majority of our work has focused on developing his overall capacity to move - addressing the gaps in neurology that where already present pre-injury as well as the new gaps created by the event itself

My focus is on developing an individuals capacity to move efficiently, to develop their resilience and adaptability, to give them movement problems to solve that will expand their physical capacity, knowledge and help them become their own body mechanic

I used to train people to perform specific tasks/movements and hope it carried over, nowadays I help people to develop a solid foundation of movement/control that they can apply to whatever physical endeavour they choose

I.e this movement sequence, while simple enough, helps to develop balance, coordination, the ability to absorb/release, accelerate/decelerate and develops that intricate dance of contraction/relaxation across the whole tissue network that allows for fluid efficient movement

If you want to learn more about movement, or have an issue that just won’t go away, get in touch and we’ll get to work

Sometimes you just need to know the right button to push

In this case Andy has been dealing with a shoulder issue that’s been giving him trouble in overhead movements

We did some blading on the usual suspects which helped but his mechanics were still off. In the vid he’s shrugging as he moves overhead, closing down that space and creating pressure which is exacerbating his issue - he’s constantly picking the scab

Once we correct this it immediately improves the feel of the movement, the feedback is smooth and his nervous system calms

Biomechanics matter

Managed to squeeze an hour in the movement Lab, found some partial answers and as always more questions

When I first started out on this side quest to get my body moving/feeling better I would try to force range/movements into my system - meat head solutions to meat head problems

I would run a 10/15k pull something 200+ straight after, do weighted Nordics, loaded splits drills, extreme Copenhagen’s, jumping, athletic stuff and spend hours doing loaded mobility - But I was still sore, still tight, still suffering endless migraines, neuro issues, anxiety, waking multiple times per night etc etc

Despite ticking all these boxes my body still didn’t feel right and while I was helping a lot of people with pain/injury I knew I was missing vital pieces, especially as I branched into more neuro work

That’s when I decided to build a movement cave/lab - a place I could work on the amazing puzzle that is movement and how to restore a broken body

Turns out the rot runs deep, a disorganised body that’s been calcified by excessive loaded/stress and a lack of movement variety can’t just be pried open, it’s not just a case of loosening one or two pieces, strengthening a muscle or loading positions - the whole system needs to be reintegrated

A complex problem for which I’m developing solutions - hence me playing around with weird movements

I tried normal, not for me

Movement Farming with

Working with people with neurological conditions, MS, post stroke, spine injuries etc has taught me so much about movement and how important good biomechanics are

It’s also helped me to develop a set of movements, drills, principles even, that allow me to screen, nourish and restore an individual’s biomechanics - even in extreme cases of atrophy

I never set out to do this work, all of the special cases I have came from completely random encounters - i.e buying a burger off Riley’s Grandma - but man am I grateful for the opportunity and the lessons

I don’t pretend to have all the answers, tbh after 11 years in the industry, 5 years of study and 2 degrees I have more questions than ever, but one thing I can say for certain is that if you’re willing to try then I’ll do everything I can to help you - regardless of your current physical condition/health status

Helping with a pincy shoulder

A quick combo session going over some movement faults and loosening up his battered tissue

The blading provides a window of opportunity for me to start reprogramming

People see the red and think it must be bad for you, they see damage, trauma

And they ain’t wrong, what you’re seeing is restricted tissue, restricted blood flow, impaired lymphatic drainage, poorly healed injuries, a damaged proprioceptive network, stress, trauma….. your body wears it all and left unchecked it will degrade your posture/biomechanics and overall health

The tools allow me to un-gunk the tissue, opening up that proprioceptive network, improving blood flow, muscle activation, lymph flow, nerve impulses, providing a window of opportunity to reset how a person moves

You see damage, I see healing and opportunity
