Borrow a Grandparent for the Afternoon at Willow Rose 🐾💛

This afternoon we were delighted to welcome Lola, a lovely Dachshund and Cavalier King Charles cross, to Willow Rose as part of our “Borrow a Grandparent for the Afternoon” visit.

Lola spent time with not just one grandparent, but many! Our residents had a wonderful time caring for her, taking her for little walks, and of course sharing plenty of cuddles and a few tasty treats. There were lots of smiles, laughter, and happy moments all around.

Visits like this bring so much joy and companionship to our residents, and Lola certainly made lots of new friends today.

🪂 Sky Dive for Alzheimer’s Society 💙

On 23rd May, during Dementia Action Week, our Customer Relations Executive Lizzie will be taking a huge leap from 10,000 feet to raise money for Alzheimer’s Society.

Lizzie is hoping to raise £500 for this incredible charity, which provides vital support to people living with dementia, their families and carers. It’s a cause that means so much to our residents, our team, and the wider community.

Lizzie shared why this challenge is so important to her:
"I’m really looking forward to taking the big leap and raising money for a charity that’s very close to my heart. I’ve supported and cared for family members living with dementia, as well as our wonderful residents here at Willow Rose. Over the years I’ve met some truly remarkable people living with dementia. I wanted to do something to give back to a charity that has helped so many people I care about. I thought doing something a little scary would be a good way to raise money — although it’s nothing compared to the challenges people living with dementia face every day. Any donation, big or small, would mean the world and help me reach my goal."

💙 Every penny raised will go towards supporting people living with dementia and the loved ones who care for them.

Reminiscing and Personal Quotes 💭
Reminiscing is so important for our residents. Looking back on life, remembering the wonderful people we’ve met along the way, and feeling grateful for all we’ve achieved can bring so much joy.

It was truly lovely hearing Alan’s story. Our team learned so much from him – and he even helped them convert £’s into old money! 😊

One of Alan’s quotes really touched our hearts:
“I may walk slower these days, but I’ve seen more of life than I ever imagined.”

Hearing this brought a few tears to our eyes.

✨ A Special Moment for Janet ✨

Our wonderful Janet, newest member of our reception team, received her name badge today from Cristina, our manager — and she said she finally feels officially part of the team 💛

Janet is working alongside Jamie this afternoon, helping to answer the telephone, manage filing, open the door, and warmly welcome all of our lovely visitors to our home.

The kettle is always on, and our front-of-house team are topped up with tea and coffee for a productive afternoon ☕
