👩‍🍳🍫 Cooking Club Fun at Rowanbrook! 🍫👩‍🍳

Our residents rolled up their sleeves this week for a sweet session in our Cooking Club!

The home was filled with the smell of melted chocolate as our residents got stuck in and showed real concentration as they carefully mixed up ingredients to make a batch of yummy cornflake cakes!

Another lovely afternoon spent doing something creative and tasty together ...............and we made sure to include gluten-free versions so everyone could enjoy a treat—because no one should miss out on dessert! 💛

We’re delighted to welcome Aminah, Chelsea, and Sofiyo, first-year nursing students from Birmingham City University, who have joined us for an 8-week placement as part of their studies.

During their time at Rowanbrook, they’ll gain hands-on experience in providing high-quality, compassionate care and learn more about supporting individuals with complex needs in a residential setting.

We’re proud to support the next generation of healthcare professionals and look forward to sharing this learning journey with them! 💙

🐾✨ Meet Scout and Freya – Our Four-Legged Friends at Rowanbrook! ✨🐾

Rowanbrook would love to introduce you to Scout, our beautiful American Labrador, who regularly visits our residents alongside his big sister Freya, an English Labrador. 💛]

We’re very lucky that our Activity Co-ordinator, Darren, is not only passionate about enrichment but is also a certified dog trainer, scentwork and mantrailing instructor. Thanks to Darren’s expertise, Scout and Freya have grown up in care home environments, making them super friendly, calm, and impeccably behaved.

Our residents look forward to their visits as much as Scout and Freya do! It’s a well-known fact that stroking a dog releases oxytocin—the feel-good hormone—helping to ease stress, lift the mood, and promote a sense of calm and happiness.

🌿🎶 A Musical Afternoon at Rowanbrook 🎶🌿

Recently, we were treated to something very special in the garden! Andy, one of our talented residents, brought everyone together with a beautiful harmonica performance.

It was such a joy to see fellow residents and our team gathered around, tapping their feet and smiling along to Andy’s music. Moments like this remind us how important it is to celebrate each person’s passions and talents.

Thank you, Andy, for sharing your gift and making our afternoon so uplifting!

☀️🌿 Sunny days at Rowanbrook! 🌿☀️

Our residents at Rowanbrook absolutely love the sunshine, and they certainly make the most of the lovely weather whenever they can!

This week, everyone enjoyed spending time out in the garden, feeling the warm sun on their faces and relaxing together.

An afternoon tea al-fresco was the perfect treat—and the sunshine even inspired a little dancing too!

Here’s to many more days of fresh air, laughter, and happy memories.

A huge round of applause for Yewande (centre), one of our amazing Care Assistants at Rowanbrook Care Home, who has been named Employee of the Month!

Yewande was nominated for so many wonderful reasons, she’s caring, hardworking, and always brings a bright smile to every shift. Her kindness, dedication, and positive energy make such a difference to both residents and colleagues every day.

To celebrate, Yewande was presented with a certificate and a bunch of flowers, just a small token of appreciation for everything she does.

This week we celebrated Jan”s special day at Rowanbrook Care Home with a lovely surprise from our amazing team! Jan was treated to a delicious birthday cake, complete with candles ready for her to make a wish.

Jan”s face lit up with joy — and she cheekily pointed at the staff member who snuck up with the surprise! ❤️

The team at Rowanbrook were delighted to present their esteemed colleague Alfred, a baby hamper in preparation for the birth of his baby at the end of June.

Alfred is one of Rowanbrook's night nurses and has been part of the team since we opened our doors.

Alfred will be looking forward to paternity leave once the baby has arrived so we hope the sun shines and he enjoys that special time before we welcome him back to Rowanbrook.
