🕯️ Remembering Aberfan 🕯️

Today, we pause to remember the tragedy that struck the village of Aberfan on 21st October 1966 — a day that claimed 144 lives, including 116 children.

As funeral directors, we are often reminded of the depth of loss felt by families and communities. The Aberfan disaster stands as one of the most heartbreaking moments in our history, and yet also a testament to the strength, compassion, and unity of the people of Wales.

May we continue to honour their memory, hold their families in our hearts, and ensure that such loss is never forgotten. 🌸

🌾 Supporting Our Local Community This Harvest Season 🌾

This week, our Brownhills Branch were delighted to visit St John’s Church, Walsall Wood, where we met Revd Lisa Mitchell and parishioner Sharon to donate food items for their Harvest Festival. - Pictured.

It was a pleasure to support such a meaningful tradition that brings the community together to help those in need. Thank you to Revd Lisa and Sharon for giving us such a warm welcome to the church.

The Harvest Festival is one of the oldest traditions in the UK, dating back centuries. It’s a time to give thanks for the food we have and to share with others who may be struggling. Communities and churches collect donations of food and essentials, which are then distributed to local food banks, charities, and families. It’s a wonderful reminder of generosity, gratitude, and togetherness — values we hold dear at Jennifer Ashe & Son.
