Hi sorry we haven’t kept you updated during the week we’ve been so busy. We’ve done so much from a visit from our beautiful therapy dog Betsy. Village walks and shopping. Outings. Exercise classes and games. Conversation cards and bingo. lots of 1-1 time for those that don’t want to join in. We listened to what our residents asked for on their last residents meeting. They asked for more social time together with others from other units to make new friends so we’ve joined lumley court for their entertainment kev the care home singer and a coffee morning and then they have visited Brancepeth court for karaoke and today whilst Elvis was in singing. We’ve had such a social week it’s been so rewarding to see all the laughing dancing singing and talking.. lots of new friendships being made.

Today with the weather being nice we had a couple of community walks.. we also had a social afternoon where some residents from all units came and socialised.. we all talked about summer memories growing up. it was lovely hearing all their different stories. Everyone said they are enjoying the social clubs so we will be introducing more over the next few weeks..

Today we celebrated this lovely gentleman’s birthday. He celebrated the way he wanted, firstly spending time with his mam on the morning opening cards and presents reminiscing about previous birthdays it was lovely they were both laughing and talking. Later he went out for a birthday meal. Then at tea time he spent more time with his mam and sharing his birthday cake with friends. Both him and his mam said they’d had a lovely day. X

Busy day Today we had our belated Easter Day.. we had lots of photos with props which was so fun. Then some of them done some Easter puzzles and then this afternoon we had a visit from Easter bunny giving out Easter eggs.. who doesn’t like an Easter egg.. xx

Wow what can I say.. firstly I’ll start by saying thankyou so much to everyone who sponsored us you all help make a real difference and we couldn’t do what we do without you all.. we so grateful..
secondly thankyou so much to all the team.. was lovely having some of our care team come along with us this time thankyou so much.. what a team we made.. I have to admit I never ever thought we would actually make it.. I’m so so proud.. I’m aching and don’t wanna walk any time soon lol but that being said it’s so worth it..
we will keep everyone updated with what we have made once we have it all in.. thankyou all again.. xx

Just a few outings today a couple trips to the local club and then an outing to Bishop Auckland for shopping and fish and chips. It’s lovely now the weather is picking up that we can get back out again. Lots of smiles and laughter today.

Yesterday one of our ladies went out shopping at Bishop Auckland to get a few items she needed and of course we also called in the local cafe where she enjoyed a lovely bacon sarnie cake and coffee.. then today we done village walks have to admit even though the sun was out it was cold but he really enjoyed getting out for a while.

Today we had one to one time and I have to admit I found some of the stories and memories so funny it’s lovely to hear them reminiscing. Later me and this gentleman went out for lunch. He had such a lovely time he really never stopped talking the whole time he was so thankful and said he’d really enjoyed, so much so he asked if we can do it once a week. It’s lovely to see the difference just a few hours out can make.

Sorry not many photos as we have been super busy today. We started with a quiz. Followed by a local community outing (thankyou to the person on the horse for stopping and letting us see the horse much appreciated) we then had another hydration and nutrition trolly this time it was viennetta ice cream syrup and sprinkles with banana milkshake this went down really well. Afterwards they enjoyed a game of bingo. Lots of smiles laughter and prizes today.

What better way to spend the day than being out in the lovely sunshine.. our lovely residents love being out in the community talking to people they pass and calling in local shops let’s hope the nice weather continues.

Wow what a st Patrick’s day it’s been… first things first though we would like to say a huge thankyou to our amazing chef and kitchen staff who have been absolutely amazing and done a whole day of Irish themed food. We started the day with cupcakes with baileys frosted topping, and barmbrack fruit loaf which was beautiful a lot of our residents really enjoyed this. we also had Guinness and a little baileys for those that wanted to try it. It’s nutrition and hydration week so the residents are loving all the themed trolleys.
Lunch time they had traditional
Steak and Guinness pie with colcannon mash and veg or Irish dumplings followed by a baileys mousse or Guinness and chocolate cake all of which they really enjoyed. Later for tea they had choice of leek and potatoe soup or codden and a lovely tri coloured jelly for afters… I cannot thank the chef and kitchen staff enough it’s been really beautiful and we really do appreciate all the help.
