🎉🎂 Happy 90th Birthday🎂🎉

A few days ago , we had the joy of celebrating SC’s incredible 90th birthday at one of our other care settings !

Surrounded by her loving family and dear husband, SC was absolutely thrilled to have our wonderful carers and our amazing cook join in to sing “Happy Birthday” to her.

Though SC has only been with us for a few months, she has already captured all of our hearts with her personality and warmth. It’s moments like these that remind us why we love what we do—bringing joy and smiles to our clients' faces!

Here’s to many more happy celebrations together! 🥳❤️

Who says that staff supervision must take place in the office?

Recently, I conducted a supervision session with Priyanka, one of our long-standing carers now , during a shopping trip. She needed assistance in choosing an outfit 👗 for an upcoming function, and I thought it would be a great opportunity to support her in a relaxed environment.

We had a wonderful time together, selecting her outfit and engaging in meaningful conversations about her work and home life. Priyanka expressed how much she enjoys spending time with either me or Afshan ( Manager) highlighting that she feels genuinely supported by both of us.

As a team, we believe that mutual support is essential to our success. Happy and empowered staff are more likely to feel confident and perform at their best, which ultimately reflects in the quality of care they provide to our clients 💞

This experience reinforced our commitment to fostering a positive and supportive work environment, where team members feel valued and encouraged to thrive 👍

This is a new project that we have embarked at one of our other care settings 🪏👩‍🌾.

We are designing a sensory garden to meaningfully engage our residents. By inviting them to share their preferences for plants, flowers, and herbs, we will foster a sense of ownership and belonging, encouraging active participation in THEIR Home .

Our garden will stimulate the senses , promote physical activity, enhance mental well-being, and encourage social interaction. It provides a connection to nature 🍀🦋 and offers educational opportunities.

For residents with dementia, the sensory garden is particularly beneficial in evoking memories and reducing anxiety through familiar scents and visuals. Tactile experiences and gardening activities enhance focus, provide purpose, and foster social connections.

Ultimately, we’re creating an environment that nurtures the body, mind, and spirit of all our residents, enhancing their quality of life ❤️💞

At Walfinch and at all our care settings , we thrive to make a difference in the lives of our clients / residents . We are committed to developing ideas and initiatives that ensure our clients and residents can live their lives to the fullest.

Irene one of our resident , has a passion for gardening and takes great pride in selecting a variety of plants for our decking area 🌿 .

She truly brings our garden to life 🪻🌼🌷. The decking area is blooming with vibrant colours , showcasing a stunning array of flowers that brighten up the space and lift everyone’s spirits. 🌸🌺

At any of our care settings , we believe that our clients should feel empowered to make their own choices. Our dedicated staff, including our wonderful carer Razi ( featured in the pictures ) , are here to support and facilitate this process.

Whether it’s gardening or any other interest, we encourage everyone to pursue their goals and enjoy life to the fullest!

🌟 Brightening Days 🌟

Today, we want to share a heartwarming experience that truly highlights the impact of our dedicated carers. KB was feeling a bit down and wasn’t feeling up to anything , but thanks to our wonderful carer Shahnaz, his spirits were lifted!

After spending time together and going out for a lovely outing, KB was all smiles and in a much better mood 😍

At our organisation , we understand that companionship and understanding can make all the difference. Our experienced carers are skilled at connecting with clients, ensuring they feel comfortable and happy 🙂. 🌴✨ Just back from a wonderful holiday in Mauritius and feeling grateful for the incredible support from my manager and team during my absence!

A huge thank you to Afshan for her dedication to our staff, clients, and their families. Your leadership ensured everything went smoothly while I was away, showcasing the amazing teamwork we have.

To show my appreciation, I treated Afshan for lunch at Stolen Lamb, where we enjoyed a truly delicious meal! 🍽️ Recognising our team's hard work is vital, and I’m proud to be part of such a caring workforce.

Important guidance for the hot weather !

The heatwave is here 🔥

For many, it’s time to get outside and enjoy those gardens, parks and outdoor spaces for many. But the hot weather can cause discomfort and a risk of dehydration for people living with dementia.

Here are a few things that can help:

☀️ Make sure the person is dressed appropriately. Try light-coloured, loose-fitting clothes made from natural fibres.

☀️ Keep the house as cool as possible. Keep curtains or blinds closed during the day - especially in south-facing rooms. In the evening, open the windows to let the warm air out and the colder air in.

☀️ Avoid the midday sun. Stay out of the sun during the hottest part of the day (between 11am and 3pm). Seek out plenty of shade and reapply sunscreen regularly when out.

☀️ Find ways to cool off. Help them take a cool bath or shower. Place a washcloth and some iced water nearby to dab themselves with.

☀️ Stay hydrated. Leave beakers or jugs of water within easy reach. Provide high water content foods like ice lollies, jelly, ice cream, soup and fruit such as melon

☀️ Ask friends and neighbours to pop in and check the person is ok. If you don’t live near the person, they could stay and have a drink with the person and make sure they have everything they need.

“ When my wife was recently discharged from hospital. I needed help with her general nursing and care.
Having made enquiries Wallfinch was recommended by 2 friends.
1 brief easy telephone call resulted in a visit by a a senior Wallfinch representative
to assess our needs and to offer advice in how best to meet our requirements. This was done and Wallfinch appointed.
Over the next weeks, 7 days a week, Wallfinch carers attended. On every single occasion they arrived on punctually. When my wife’s needs were attended to, every carer offered to help with my daily chores.
Ironing, not my strongest suit,
dusting, general cleaning, even cleaning my fridges and hob were undertaken to make up the time.

Just conducted a weekend spot check on some of our dedicated staff members. There's something truly special about seeing everyone in their professional attire, delivering exceptional care to our clients.

During my visit, I was delighted to meet one of our lovely clients, who looked absolutely glamorous in her favorite pink outfit. It warmed my heart to see her smile, and I couldn't resist bringing her a little surprise gift to brighten her day 🌷

These spot checks not only reinforce our commitment to maintaining high standards of care but also strengthen the bonds we share with our clients and their families. Each interaction is an opportunity to connect, spread joy, and remind them that they are valued and cherished.
