What do people actually take away from therapy?

It’s not always an instrumental breakthrough moment. Often, it’s something small but powerful, that helps you to chip away at your negative core beliefs.

Here are just a few things you might take away from your next session đź’›

Two weeks ago we headed to Alderley Edge School for Girls to deliver a teacher training session all about managing challenging behaviour

We explored what really sits behind behaviour in the classroom and these were the most important takeaways from the session:

✨ Behind every behaviour is a need
Challenging behaviour? It’s often an unmet need in disguise. How we respond is key - often connection, not correction, is our most powerful tool

🤝 Collaboration builds trust
When relationships feel strained, collaboration - rather than control - can be the key to reconnection

đź«— We can't pour from an empty cup
How can we respond compassionately to students if our capacity is full? In short, we can’t. Supporting students starts with teachers having the space to support themselves too

A huge thank you to the team at Alderley Edge School for Girls for the open conversation, thoughtful reflections, and commitment to student wellbeing

We had such an inspiring session with the Year 10 students at Manchester High School for Girls, prepping for upcoming GCSEs

In our session, we chatted about everything from exam mindset and recognising stress vs anxiety, to understanding our procrastination styles and rethinking self-care

The 3 main takeaways our founder Rachel shared were:

❌ Procrastination is NOT lazy
It’s about understanding your unique style and the reasons behind it – you can transform the way you work with a little insight

💆‍♀️ Self-care isn’t just exercise and healthy eating
It’s also about nurturing your relationships and knowing when to ask for help

⏰ Time management is less about clock-watching and more about prioritising
When you make revising your number one priority, you’ll never feel like you’re running out of time

We really enjoyed our discussion and hope these insights helped the students feel more confident and balanced as they take on their exams

We're keen to know - what tips or tricks would you recommend during exam season?

Students, you need to hear this...

The pressure to do well during exams can really get on top of you. But remember, no matter what your results, your mental health is important too.

This Stress Awareness Month, take a moment to breathe, seek support, and put self-care first. Success isn’t only measured by your grades—it’s also about your well-being.

Share this with a friend who needs to hear it and let us know: what helps you stay calm during exam season?

This book will change the way you think 📖🧠💡

These are 3 lessons we've learned from reading Mel Robbins 'The Let Them Theory' Book

1. You can't control how people react - and that's OKAY. Stop exhausting yourself trying to manage everyone's emotions. Let them feel, let them process, let them be.

2. Your power is in YOUR response, not in controlling others. Own your journey, your healing, your growth. Everything else is just noise.

3. Compassion doesn't mean fixing everyone. Sometimes love looks like giving people space to learn their own lessons. Detach with love.

If you've read it - what are your top three takeaways? đź’

New name, same me!

Hey everyone! Big news - My instagram page is now officially .by.rachel

Growing and evolving is something we celebrate in therapy, and after nearly a decade as a therapist, I felt it was time for my practice name to evolve too.

When I first started in private practice, "CYP Wellbeing" felt safe - professional, sensible, and honestly, comfortably impersonal. But whilst I'm constantly encouraging my clients to embrace their authentic selves, why wasn't I doing the same?

This rebrand better reflects not just me, but also celebrates the amazing work I do with my adult clients. It's about embracing all aspects of my practice and the real connections I've made with people of all ages.

So here I am - showing up as my full self! Same therapist, same passion, just with a name that feels more... me.

Head to the link in the comments to follow my new page - I can't wait to continue this journey with you all.

The theme for this year's Children's Mental Health Week is know yourself, grow yourself 🌱

Here are 4 ways you can build self-awareness in young minds:

đź’ Pause and Reflect
Encourage young people to notice how they're feeling throughout the day

📝 Keep a Feelings Journal
Share different ways they can write, draw, or decorate their thoughts

🚶‍♀️Practice Mindful Moments
Make time for a few quiet breaths or a moment of calm

🛋️ Talk it Out
Try to encourage sitting down and sharing feelings with someone they trust

đź’¬ Finding the right words to start a conversation with your child can sometimes feel challenging

That’s why we’ve drawn inspiration from YoungMinds conversation starters to bring you simple prompts that open the door to deeper connections

Here are a few ideas to try 👇

đź’š "How are you feeling today?"
A gentle invitation to check in on your child's feelings

đź’š "What do you want to talk about?"
An open door for sharing thoughts or concerns that are on their mind

đź’š "What good things happened today?"
A fun way to reflect on positive moments and celebrate small wins

đź’š "What was the best and worst bit of your day?"
Encourages a balanced look at their day

đź’š "If you could start today again, what would you do differently?"
A reflective question that helps them learn and grow from their experiences

đź’š "What did you do today that you are most proud of?"
A boost to self-esteem, highlighting their achievements and strengths

These prompts aren’t just questions—they’re a gateway to understanding feelings and building trust

Give them a go and let us know how you get on! 💬✨

Divorce or separation is never easy, especially when children are involved

đź’¬ What you say and how you say it matters

Your words can shape how they process and understand what’s happening, as well as their emotional response

If you’re noticing signs that your child may be struggling - such as withdrawal, changes in behavior, or difficulty expressing their feelings - consider reaching out for support

🛋️ Therapy can provide your child with a safe, understanding space to share their emotions and begin to process them in a healthy way

💛 You don’t have to navigate this alone. Head to the link in our bio to explore the therapy services we offer and how we can support your family through this time
