KEY MESSAGES FOR VULNERABLE AUDIENCES

National test
On Sunday 7 September at 3pm, the UK government will test the Emergency Alerts system.

The test will be sent to all compatible 4G and 5G mobile phones and tablets across the UK. You will hear a loud siren-like sound, vibration, and a message will appear on the screen confirming that this is a test. The sound and vibration will last for about 10 seconds. You will not need to take any further action.

Depending on your phone’s features, the alert will work with screen magnification and may read the message out for you having also overridden volume settings. The unique noise emitted by the phone should also be audible for those who use a hearing aid.

The Emergency Alerts system is an important tool for reaching the public in emergency situations. However, if you need to turn off these alerts (including the test), visit gov.uk/alerts/opting-out for step-by-step instructions.

About Emergency Alerts
Emergency Alerts will warn you via your mobile or tablet if there's a life-threatening emergency nearby. Only the government and the emergency services are able to send them.

You’ll be able to check that an alert is genuine at gov.uk/alerts. Emergency Alerts will be just one of the ways the government communicates with the public about emergency situations. So if you don’t have a mobile phone, don’t worry – you’ll still be made aware through the media and local emergency services.

An Easy Read explainer is available here.

Cymraeg

Prawf Cenedlaethol
Ddydd Sul 7 Medi am 3pm, bydd Llywodraeth y DU yn profi'r system Rhybuddion Argyfwng.

Bydd rhybudd prawf yn cael ei anfon i'r holl ffonau symudol a thabledi 4G a 5G cydweddol ledled y DU. Bydd eich dyfais yn gwneud sŵn uchel del seiren ac yn crynu, a bydd neges yn ymddangos ar y sgrin yn dweud mai prawf yw hwn. Bydd y sŵn a'r crynu yn para am tua 10 eiliad. Ni fydd angen i chi wneud unrhyw beth.

Yn dibynnu ar eich ffôn, bydd modd chwyddo’r llythrennau ar y sgrin I ddarllne y rhybudd neu gall y ffôn ddarllen y rhybudd i chi hyd y noes os yw’r sain i ffwrdd. A dylai pobl sy’n defnyddio cymorth clyw allu clywed y sŵn unigryw a gynhyrchir gan y ffôn.

Mae'r system Rhybuddion Argyfwng yn bwysig ar gyfer cyrraedd y cyhoedd mewn sefyllfaoedd brys. Fodd bynnag, os oes rhaid i chi optio allan o’r rhybuddion hyn (gan gynnwys y prawf), cewch gyfarwyddiadau cam wrth gam yn gov.uk/alerts/opting-out

Ynglŷn â Rhybuddion Argyfwng

Cewch Rybudd Argyfwng ar eich ffôn symudol neu dabled os oes argyfwng sy'n peryglu bywyd yn agos. Dim ond y llywodraeth a'r gwasanaethau brys sy'n gallu eu hanfon.

Byddwch yn gallu gwirio bod y rhybudd yn ddilys ar gov.uk/alerts. Rhybuddion Argyfwng yw un o'r ffyrdd y bydd y llywodraeth yn cyfathrebu â'r cyhoedd am argyfwng. Felly os nad oes gennych ffôn symudol, peidiwch â phoeni – byddwch yn cael gwybodaeth drwy'r cyfryngau a'r gwasanaethau brys lleol hefyd.

Mae esboniad Hawdd ei Ddarllen ar gael yma.

⚠️ Heatwave Health Warning ⚠️

The extreme temperatures we’re currently experiencing can be dangerous—especially for the elderly and vulnerable, who are at higher risk of serious illness or even death due to heat-related conditions.

At Affinity Homecare, our carers are going the extra mile to protect those we support. During this heatwave, our care teams are:

💧 Encouraging regular fluid intake
🧊 Keeping living areas as cool as possible by closing curtains and using fans
🥗 Preparing light, cooling meals and snacks
🕶️ Avoiding outdoor trips during the hottest hours (11am–3pm)
📋 Monitoring for signs of heat exhaustion or dehydration

Please keep an eye on your elderly neighbours, friends or relatives—and reach out if you have concerns.

We're here to help. 💛
Stay safe, stay cool.

☀️ It’s a warm one out there! ☀️

Our amazing care team is out working hard in this heat, making sure our service users are safe, supported, and – most importantly – staying hydrated 💧

We’re so proud of the dedication they show every single day, no matter the weather. Please remember to drink plenty of water and keep cool. We will be making sure those we care for do too ❤️

Every year, at least 40,000+ people living with dementia are reported missing for the first time.

Please read - It will only take 1 minute of your time.

Learn about a national scheme used by police and other agencies where carers keep details about vulnerable people to be used if that person goes missing.

A pop-up channel and three specially curated collections launch on BBC iPlayer on Monday 24 March, featuring programmes from across the BBC archive. Each collection gathers together programmes from a specific decade: the 60s, the 70s and the 80s – and the programmes included will feature the best in arts, entertainment, culture and news events of the era. Programmes in these collections will include the 1969 special edition of Panorama marking man's first steps on the surface of the moon, Philip Donnellan's 1964 film The Colony, Abba’s victory in the grand final of the 1974 Eurovision Song Contest, and Keith Floyd’s classic 1987 food series Floyd on France.

A pop-up channel called Memories will feature programmes from each collection and will run 24 hours a day as a live stream on BBC iPlayer. While viewing these programmes may not lead to immediate, dramatic responses for those living with dementia, studies show they can have significant value in helping create connections and moments of recognition with their friends and family.
