🌿 Calm. Supported. Ready for Birth.
As you approach the final weeks of pregnancy, it’s natural to want to feel as prepared, calm, and supported as possible.
Pre-birth acupuncture is a gentle and safe way to support your body as it gets ready for labour.

✨ It can help to:
✔️ Encourage natural cervical ripening
✔️ Support optimal baby positioning
✔️ Promote relaxation and reduce tension
✔️ Calm the nervous system
✔️ Prepare the body for an efficient birth process

The ideal time to start pre-birth acupuncture is from 37 weeks and consists of a weekly treatment until labour commences (usually around 4 sessions). Every session offers a calm space for you to rest, recharge, and feel connected to your body and your baby.

✨ Trying to Conceive Naturally? How Acupuncture Can Help. ✨
If you’re on your TTC journey, acupuncture can be a powerful, supportive tool to help your body feel balanced and ready.
Here’s how it supports natural fertility:
🌿 Hormone Regulation
Acupuncture helps balance hormones like FSH, LH, oestrogen, and progesterone — key players in ovulation and cycle regulation.
💫 Improved Blood Flow
It enhances circulation to the ovaries and uterus, supporting healthy egg development and a receptive uterine lining.
🧘‍♀️ Stress Reduction
Trying to conceive can be emotional. Acupuncture calms the nervous system, reduces cortisol, and supports better sleep and emotional wellbeing.
🩺 Cycle Support
Whether you're tracking ovulation, regulating irregular cycles, or working with PCOS or endometriosis — treatment is tailored to your unique cycle and needs.
Natural conception takes time, and support matters. Acupuncture offers a holistic, nurturing approach on your path to pregnancy.

✨ Planning IVF? Here’s how acupuncture can support you every step of the way ✨

Starting acupuncture 3 months before IVF, along with healthy lifestyle choices like a balanced diet and regular exercise, can help regulate hormones and support egg quality.

While we can’t change an egg’s DNA, we can improve the environment in which it grows and that can make a big difference when it comes to it’s potential to fertilise and develop.

🩺 During Stimulation:
Acupuncture boosts blood flow to the ovaries and uterus, helping deliver nutrients, oxygen, and medication, supporting follicle growth and building a healthy endometrial lining.

⏳ Between Trigger & Egg Collection:
This is all about final egg maturation. Acupuncture can also help manage symptoms of OHSS if these are present (alongside any medical treatment for this condition).

🌱 Around Embryo Transfer:
Treatments on transfer day (before, after or both) focus on reducing uterine contractions, improving blood flow, supporting implantation, and easing stress.

⏳ The Two-Week Wait:
Acupuncture helps maintain optimal hormone levels, promotes endometrial receptivity and supports your emotional wellbeing during this crucial time.

During an IVF cycle, acupuncture can also help to reduce the side effects of medication, improve sleep, reduce anxiety and give you space to feel supported and heard.

🌿 New Clinic Location 🌿
Sometimes the best path forward isn’t the first one we take — and that’s okay.

Just a few weeks ago, I moved into a new clinic space, but after giving it a try, it became clear it wasn’t the right fit. I’ve since found a new location that better supports the care and calm environment I want to provide for all of you.

🗓️ From 12th May 2025, you can find me at:
📍 Therapy Spaces, 174 Merton High Street, Wimbledon, SW19 1AY
Tube: South Wimbledon

Thank you so much for your patience and support during this transition. I can’t wait to welcome you into this beautiful new space — it already feels more aligned with the kind of healing work we do together.

Please reach out if you have any questions or need help finding the new spot!

With gratitude,

Jo

Hi there! I’m Jo
It’s been a while since I’ve posted on Facebook so I wanted to re-introduce myself and share what I do with you all! I’m an acupuncturist specialising in women’s health. A large part of my clinic is working with women who are struggling to conceive. I'm trained where we are trained to think out of the box, question a little more and dig a little deeper to find answers. I work with women who are experiencing menstrual and hormonal issues including PCOS, endometriosis, perimenopause and menopausal symptoms and I also treat women during pregnancy to help manage any pregnancy related conditions, reduce anxiety and prepare for labour.
I have new availability in Wimbledon, London SW19 so if you would like to find out more, visit my website where you can book a discovery call or book an appointment.

New year, new baby?
It’s not always that simple. Current statistics suggest that around 1 in 7 couples find it difficult to conceive. Along with eating a healthy diet, taking moderate exercise and finding the time to relax acupuncture is a great way to support both female and male fertility ahead of trying for a baby. Trying to get pregnant can be an emotional rollercoaster, acupuncture can help you manage your emotions, stay positive and be in the best shape to conceive. It can also support assisted reproductive technology such as IVF.

Wishing you a happy & healthy 2022!

Gua sha is another therapy being used in the clinic. It dates back around 3000 years and has traditionally been used to treat Hot and Cold diseases, so conditions such as fever, colds and flu.
Today I continue to use it for just that, helping to relieve chesty coughs and congestion caused by cold viruses. I also use gua sha to help relieve stiffness in the neck and shoulder area and for lower back pain and sciatica.
Gua sha involves superficially scraping the skin with a blunt instrument. Traditionally a spoon was used, I use a round lid much like you would see on a jam jar. Once used this is disposed of. Oil is smoothed on to the skin before the skin is scraped with the lid. The treatment is not painful but there may be some soreness and bruising (redness to the skin) following treatment which may take between 3 and 7 days to resolve.
The aim of gua sha is to get things moving, relieving congestion, stiffness and reducing inflammation. The scraping action improves the micro circulation bringing new blood with its healing properties to the affected area.

Have you tried cupping therapy?
Cupping is an excellent way of relieving tight and painful muscles. It can be used as a stand-alone treatment or alongside needling.
It works by increasing the blood flow to the affected area and by releasing toxins which may be a cause of pain. When the cups are applied to the skin, they create a negative pressure which sucks up the underlying tissue. This lifting of the tissue allows more blood to flow into the area which helps rebuild connective tissue and microscopic blood vessels, helping the tissues to repair more quickly relieving pain and tension.
Cupping is a non-invasive treatment which can be used on the legs and arms as well as on tight back and shoulder muscles. It can cause some bruising (red, round marks where the suction cups have been placed) but this usually resolves within 7 days.
If you are suffering with tight, sore muscles, why not try cupping therapy.
