With Valentines day coming up it can bring up happy and also sad memories. Memories of loved ones lost in our residents lives.

So we decided to take a different approach to celebrate and promote self love and to make our residents feel cared for and important.

We spent this morning with our residents prosecco, strawberries, cupcakes, nail care and Polish, hair tonged and styled, with foot massages.

Our focus was to enjoy some quality time together boosting self esteem

We have been experiencing some intermittent technical difficulties with our phones and Internet. So calling the home may work at times and not at other times, and a delay in responding to emails.
We have logged this and awaiting to be reconnected.

Do not worry our staff are still fully functioning and it hasnt interfered or stopped the kettle and bakes of cakes for all of our lovely residents.

We will keep you in the loop should this continue with no fix

Things Got a Little "Gruff" This Morning!
We had a truly un-goat-able time today at Mile Oak! A massive thank you to the wonderful Blandford Animal Sanctuary for bringing along three of their loveliest rescue goats to visit our residents.
It’s fair to say it was a morning of wonderfully chaotic fun. These three were certainly not "kidding" around they made themselves right at home!
The highlights included:
• Some very cheeky goats trying to "hoof" their way into bed for a snuggle with our residents!
• lots of smiles from everyone involved.
We did have a bit of a "bleat" of a cleanup to do afterwards, but it was worth every second to see the smiles on our residents' faces. We definitely herd nothing but good things from everyone!
Thank you again to the sanctuary for such a memorable visit.

We were once again delighted to have a visit from Moo Music last week.

The parents and babies who join us at Mile Oak have a wonderful time. But we do think our residents have the most fun of all. The smiles and laughter really bring so much warmth and fuzzy feels.

This January, we’re dedicating time to gathering meaningful feedback from our residents to ensure their voices shape the year ahead. Through conversations, questionnaires, and day‑to‑day interactions, we’re listening closely to what matters most whether that’s favourite pastimes, new ideas, or ways to make daily life even more enjoyable. Once we’ve gathered this insight, we’ll begin turning it into action, using residents’ suggestions to guide and inspire our upcoming events and activities. This approach helps us create a programme that truly reflects the people who live here and celebrates their individuality.

The year turns slow at Mile Oak’s door,
As memories fade to make room for more.
We cherish the friends we’ve newly found,
And the love that makes this holy ground.
For those who’ve left us, don’t feel apart,
They live forever within our heart.
In every story and shared cup of tea,
They remain a part of our family.
Now 2026 brings a brand new light,
With days of joy and spirits bright.
To the old and the new, we raise a cheer

To love and hope in the coming year.

Amongst the Wimborne trees so tall,
Christmas is coming to visit us all!
While the Managers boast of their festive plan,
The Chefs are ready with a frying pan.
They’re guarding the pigs-in-blankets with pride,
From hungry residents lurking outside!
The Care Team are dashing all over the place,
With a pill, a prompt, and a smile on their face.
They straighten our hats and they check on our gear,
While we cheekily whisper in someone’s ear.
For us Residents know how to cause a stir
Swapping the salt for the sugar, for sure!
We’re hiding remotes and we’re "napping" for fun,
Asking for tea when we've already had some!
Keeping the staff on a permanent run.
But through all the mischief and holiday cheer,
We wish you the best time of the whole blooming year!
Merry Christmas from everyone at Mile Oak!

Ho-ho-ho! What's better than a trip to the garden centre? A trip to the garden centre during the sparkliest, jolliest time of the year!
Our hearts are bursting with festive cheer after our delightful recent outing to Haskins Garden Centre! The residents were absolutely enchanted by the dazzling displays of decorations it felt like stepping into Santa's Grotto! And, of course, no Haskins trip is complete without mentioning those legendary, melt-in-your-mouth scones they truly are out of this world!
Last week, our wonderful residents enjoyed this festive jaunt, and while some may have gotten just a little bit carried away with their shopping bags, everyone chose a truly gorgeous new decoration. These precious trinkets are now hanging proudly on our Christmas tree here at Mile Oak, adding an extra sparkle of love!
Sometimes, we think the 'grandest' things in life are what make us happiest. But the simplest pleasures, like sharing a perfectly buttered scone and choosing a new bauble, are the most magical! A familiar outing like this boosts all the endorphins, fills the air with laughter, and proves that the greatest joy is found in making new, wonderful memories together.
